Watched all The Terminal List and loved it.

Completely different, strong story, and a good concept.

Action packed, powerful story, gripping.

Watched all 6 episodes of Sherwood, good story based on fact, fictional story, true base history. Good

Kandice | 2061 comments I binged Shining Girls on appletv this weekend. One of the few times an adaptation outshone (pun intended!) the source, and the book was good! The show was such a mind screw and just well done in every way. Elisabeth Moss is my hero.

Kirsten (kmcripn) I finished The Terminal List. Very good. Some great action scenes. (Why would anyone try and piss of a Navy SEAL?) Can't wait for the second season of it and Reacher.

message 1007: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey Marshall (jmarsh17) | 57 comments A couple to mention from the Brits: Broadchurch, now I guess on season 2. First season was an emotional roller coaster, especially the last episode. And The Fall, with Gilian Anderson as a sexy inspector jousting with a serial killer (Jamie Dornan) in Northern Ireland. Both series are from the 2013-14 time frame.
Also worth mentioning is The Cleaning Lady, with novel plotlines and great acting from relative unknowns. Head cleaning lady Thony came to Las Vegas from the Philippines, where she had been a doctor - now she's a cleaning lady mopping up after the mob. Thony (Elodie Young) is a force of nature, fierce and unflinchingly protective of her young son, Luca, who needs medical care available only in the US.

message 1013: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I've just started watching The Serpent Queen. So glad to see the great Samantha Morton with a meaty role. (Though not too sure about an Irishman playing a French King.)

Great actress. If they can have Mel Gibson play a 6' 5" Scottish brute....? Never let the truth stand in the way of a good story, or vehicle for a actor?

message 1015: by Kirsten (new)

Kirsten (kmcripn) I know, right? Though I draw the line at Tom Cruise playing Jack Reacher, my imagination is just not that good.

message 1016: by M.J. (new)

M.J. Webb (mjwebb) | 16 comments LOVE the Reacher books. Supposed to be a colossus of a man so naturally they pick a dwarf. lol No, really, I think the series has it right now, though i have not seen more than a trailer. He looks the part?

message 1017: by Kirsten (new)

message 1034: by Harald (new)

Harald | 5 comments Hi! New here...
Currently watching "Tulsa King" with Sylvester Stallone. Enjoying it.
Also finishing up "The Good Fight" with Christine Baransky. Sort of a spin-off of "The Good Wife."
All-time contemporary favorite is probably "Squid Game."
Not sure if these are all Netflix or Amazon Prime, as I jump back and forth and easily forget.

message 1035: by Bridget (new)

Bridget McCue (mccutiereads) I've been watching Bad Sisters on Apple TV and I love it! It's the perfect mix of drama, comedy, and thriller!

Kandice | 2061 comments I attempted to watch The Expanse when I read the first book in the series, but kept forgetting to come back to it. I restarted over the weekend and am loving it this time! It's different from the book, and I think the death of character in particular was what kept me from watching to begin with. They last a little longer in the show, but I am invested enough in other characters to not mind. I miss them, but that's ok!

Tennis documentary

message 1042: by Jeffrey (new)

Jeffrey Marshall (jmarsh17) | 57 comments "The Cleaning Lady" - tense, great characters, fierce and breakout performance by Elody Young as a Fillipino doctor who has to become a cleaning lady in Las Vegas. Her relationship with a mobster and drug smuggling - all designed to help save her terribly ill son - is a great story of a mother's sacrifice. Woman in jeopardy? You betcha!

Taped Gold, starting tonight on BBC1.

Enjoy The Pet Hospital on BBC 1 in the morning, tape it.

And The Dog House on Channel 4, in the evening.

Still catching up with The Blacklist, season 9, season 10 will be the last

message 1045: by Kandice (new)

Kandice | 2061 comments I watched Kaleidoscope on Netflix over the last week. You're supposed to be able to watch the episodes in any order and still understand the entire story, but I took the easy way out and watched chronologically. I enjoyed it, but there was something odd about the format. There was violence, in some cases almost extreme, but it was also oddly sentimental. It had to be on purpose, and I wonder if I had watched in a different order if the juxtaposition would have been less obvious.

Watched and enjoyed three new series

On Channel Five, last week Desperate Measures, 4 parts, very good.

Gold, on BBC1 , based on a true story, 6 parts, very good.

Better on Channel 4, I think, 6 parts, very good.

Slowly going through Yellowstone and Blacklist
