We binge watched it too. All in one evening. I thought it was really good until the last couple of episodes, then I thought it got a bit silly so came away a tad disappointed.

Perri | -43 comments I really enjoy The Great British Baking Show and have a question about it. Just saw "pudding" week and I understand that means something quite different from the US pudding which is usually gummy stuff from a package. The actual challenge was Steamed School Pudding. Is that something mostly served in schools? It looks like it takes a long time to make. The advice was it not be "stodgy" which I thought meant boring, but I think they meant more than that? They shared the background starting by cooking in animal organs which was fascinating

message 489: by Paul (new)

Paul Perry (pezski) | 55 comments Current shows I'm really enjoying:

The Good Place ( genuinely one of the best TV shows ever )

Counterpart

Brooklyn Nine-Nine

I've also been catching up on Line of Duty, mainlining a series at a time. Not sure how I missed this when it was broadcast!

I've introduced my girlfriend to Inside Number 9 and Hannibal. We've got the next season of The Man in the High Castle queued up.

I'd taken breaks from Breaking Bad & Person of Interest, both in season 4, so must continue with those.

I'd watched the first series of Hinterland - a Welsh detective show, which was terrific - but see the rest of it is on Netflix so it's on the list.

As with so many others, really looking forward to the GoT finale and the return of Killing Eve.

So much media, so little time.

Killing Eve has been made/finished...

Cannot wait.

Read part 2 of the book...

message 491: by Bill (new)

Bill Greenwood | 21 comments I was surprised to realize that 'The Sopranos' turns 20 this month. That was great TV.
When I was young, I genuinely liked Columbo. Never once picked the moment where the clue that he used to finger the murderer was shown. I know some people who have spotted them.
Then came 'Hill Street Blues', which changed television.
In the last few years we've enjoyed:
Justified. Some of the dialog is priceless.
Dexter.
Six Feet Under.
Breaking Bad.
Better Call Saul.
Orange Is The New Black. Last season was a disappointment.
Bosch. Great choice of actor for Harry Bosch.
The Wire. There's a lot of unusual (for Hollywood) commentary in the subtext of that series.

Love Colombo. I'll still watch if I come across an episode. I binge watched The Sopranos a few years ago. Loved it. Watched Dexter too. I've heard rumours of a potential movie there.

Tracey watches Columbo and tapes it as on every Saturday on one station.

We have seen them all, sadly I remember most...LOL

Another one my wife watches from the 70's Butterfly with Wendy Craig.

And also watches Murder She Wrote

I too love Columbo. It still seems to hold up as very compelling crime drama, and the 70's settings hold an additional curiosity factor for me.

For something more contemporary I do like 'Spooks'.
