SOLVED. short story about slow change in color of fence [s]

i heard the description of a short story (attributed to borges but i am beginning to doubt this) about a traveler who watches a fence turn very very slowly from red to white (or vice versa) over miles.

that's all info i have.

does it ring any bells?
