Michael hit a ton. If you can, try to contact genre-websites (i.e. zombie-guidemagazine for zombies). Also try to do any interviews you can, even if the blogger/website isn't in your genre.

First books are exciting, have fun with it. Also, create an author page on amazon if you can. It's just another way to get your name out there.

Google+ is another outlet, join groups, post on different boards...

Like Michael did with this group, just try to network with other authors and if you're cool, they'll help you promote.
