well, I was on the desktop, but now i'm on the laptop, which is why I can't do it anymore.

And if you don't have a keypad, sometimes the Fn key works with the regular numbers.

i don't know, i'm on a labtop so no numlock. i was sure that it would work for Macs and not pc's though. o well, guess i was wrong.

Step 1. Press Num Lock.
Step 2. Press Alt.
Step 3. On Num Pad, press down 1, while holding alt,
Step 4. Let go of both at same time.

Sorry, I was blocked from this discussion for a while. LOLI'm on a regular laptop, Dell. I don't have a keypad, so I have to use Fn and then hit 'J' 'cause that's the button for 1.
This is how I do it:
1) hit Fn and hold
2) hit Alt and hold--still holding Fn
3) hit J--or whatever letter your #1 is--and hold--still holding the other two
4) Let go of them all at the same time
5) bingo! ☺
Sometimes it takes a few tries to get one. You have to get the timing right.
