Kim Propp | 21 comments . Are you aware of the horrific earthquake that rocked the Visayas in the Philippines? My family was on Bohol when it happened. The orphanage, the Bible college, and my brother's home (which is the college office and he just sleeps there) were all damaged. Buildings all around were collapsed including the hotel that seven visitors from my brother's church were staying in. There have been over 1000 aftershocks. It is overwhelming. My poor little nephews are there, but my heart is especially broken for all the street kids with no parents to tell them things will be okay or that it will eventually stop. I am starting a card/letter writing campaign so that everyone there knows that people are thinking of them and praying for them. Would you be interested in helping with that?

Definitely praying for them. I have family in Japan when the tsunamis hit, so I can relate to the fear and shock of not knowing what the future holds for loved ones.
I would love to write a note for them! Let us know more details, and when I hear back from you I will send you my note via message :)

Kim Propp | 21 comments Christina, Thank you so much. My email is kbelcheff@verizon.net. Was your family in Japan okay? That was devastating to watch. We prayed for the survivors and the rescue workers often during that tragedy.

If you would like to send a card of encouragement, or something for Christmas, this is the address. Please share this address and information with youth groups, bible studies, and anyone who is willing to help. Thank you so much for the support. It really means a lot to me.

The adress goes:

Mike and Jean Propp
Maranatha Bible College
Guinobatan
Trinidad, Bohol 6324
Philippines

Just put VOH on the back tab of the envelope if it is for the Kids, and leave it blank if it is for the people at Maranatha. There are 52 Kids at VOH, 40 Bible college students, and about 25 paid staff that volunteer to spend the rest of their lives supporting orphans. If you want to write to my nephews, you can put Luke or Mark on the back tab of the envelope. I know my brother and SIL would greatly appreciate any encouraging words they could get too. Thank you so much. It means the world to me to know there are caring people like you! God Bless!

Kim Propp | 21 comments This is the latest letter from my sister in law: Jeanette Auxtero Propp
So here's my earthquake story: Around 8 am on Oct. 15, Mike and I were having breakfast with nine Americans on the Crossroads missions team. We were preparing to do our island visits with a swimming time scheduled at the Guindacpan Sandbar. Then a big loud sound came and the hotel started shaking. I put down two steaming mugs of coffee, picked-up my 3 year old and in panic ran to the exit. While running, I was looking back trying to look for my seven year old. He was in the other side of the room running the opposite direction. I was terrified. A friend ran after Luke and grabbed him just as I saw parts of the wall falling down behind them. I proceeded down some stairs, fell down on my knees, having a hard time keeping vertical while holding Mark with the ground shaking. I saw in front of my face a decorative rock I almost hit with my head. We were outside, and the ground just kept shaking. It was a truly terrifying experience, but all you moms out there know that the hardest part of it all was thinking that the building was going to fall on my son. Somehow mothers' hearts feel a different kind of fear when our children are in danger. I do still have flashbacks of that moment when I looked back and Luke wasn't there. I know in Bohol right now, so many parents are feeling the same. Unfortunately some of them really lost their children, children lost their parents, some their dads. Many people are living in tents out in the fields. My Village of Hope kids are doing the same. We appreciate your prayers for Bohol. Friends, family, strangers, your prayers are helping to sustain us.

I believe that you will be very blessed by this delightful coming of age story about a young boy named Charlie. Good clean fiction for the whole family. The Witness in the Window

Kim Propp | 21 comments Christina, That is good to hear. There are over 1,000 aftershocks reported now. They were getting one every 10 to fifteen minutes the first few days, now they are getting six to ten daily. People are running out of food and water, buildings were destroyed, but God was on the throne and only 198 people died. That is a miracle. Pray for the health of everyone involved. Now they are getting sick from sleeping in tents and in the rain with no tents. My brother and SIL bought 33 tents in Cebu to pass out and five hundred Cebuano Bibles from donations. God is GOOD.
