Kivuli | 5 comments Hi, I'm looking for a book I once read when I was a child. It was a horror novel for adults, and it was such a long time ago that I don't remember a lot of it.

What I can remember is that the story was about a couple, POV was the husband, and they just moved to a new house. He starts having nightmares about the attic and 2 little girls. Eventually he starts seeing the 2 little girls. They even appear in his holiday pictures.

Spoilers below:
(view spoiler)

It was one of the scariest books I ever read lol.

Debra B. (ipreferdebbieinsteadofdebra) Dark Inspiration possibly, but it is rather recent...

Kivuli | 5 comments That can't be the book because I read it about 11 years ago when I was 12/14. But it does sound eerily similar! Thank you!

Debra B. (ipreferdebbieinsteadofdebra) I really would like to read the book you read, so I hope other people will be able to help identify the title and author. If you ever find out the title, please post it so that I can put it on my "to read" list. Thank you.

Luminous--go to worldcat or wiki or someplace else. GR isn't always good about listing the original publication date of a book, so it's possible that that really is your book. (Probably isn't, since I don't think that the author has been writing that long, but thought I'd toss the suggestion out there anyway.)

Debra B. (ipreferdebbieinsteadofdebra) I did go to Worldcat and that is how I found "Dark Inspiration". Would really like to know the name of the book Luminous read 11 years ago!

Railyn (funky-rat) | 243 comments The only thing I can think of is "The Shining" and I'm pretty sure that's not it - it doesn't quite fit.

Kivuli | 5 comments Yeah it's not 'The Shining' unfortunately, but thank you.
And thank you Debra and Ann aka Iftcan! I'm definitely going to read 'Dark Inspiration' because of the similarities.
There's one more thing I remember from the book.
(view spoiler)

If I remember correctly it's only the man who is haunted, or the only one that's really affected by it.

Debra B. (ipreferdebbieinsteadofdebra) I really wish we could discover the title. I looked at worldcat again but nothing came up. It's definitely a novel and not a short story, right?

Kivuli | 5 comments It's definitely a novel yes!
At that time I got it from the library and after a few years I went back because I wanted to know the title of the book. But unfortunately the library went through some remodelling and the book was nowhere to be found.
I've been searching for a loooooong time hahaha.
