Hi Lauren,
I have an e-version of the book, so I typed in the quote and there was no match. Thinking that I'd widen the field, I tried just the first few words, and once again, no match.
I then tried the single word 'worse' which appears 10 times in the novel, but no match to the quote you're looking for.
My guess is that the quote isn't in the novel at all, although Charlie does have thoughts that echo this sentiment. Perhaps the quote is taken directly from the author?
I'm happy to stand corrected on this, but my search has been very thorough. :)
