“A guy needs somebody―to be near him. A guy goes nuts if he ain't got nobody. Don't make no difference who the guy is, long's he's with you. I tell ya, I tell ya a guy gets too lonely an' he gets sick.”
The importance of this quote is that during the book nearly all of the characters admit at some point to having a profound sense of loneliness and isolation.
“Just like heaven. Ever’body wants a little piece of lan’. I read plenty of books out here. Nobody never gets to heaven, and nobody gets no land. It’s just in their head. They’re all the time talkin’ about it, but it’s jus’ in their head.”
The importance of this quote is that in the book, the protagonists idealize this fantasy of having a little cottage, with chickens and pigs and little rabbits. It is their end-game. This quote is a pessimistic view on George and Lennie reaching their end-game. (Obtaining this piece of land).
“I ain't got no people. I seen the guys that go around on the ranches alone. That ain't no good. They don't have no fun. After a long time they get mean. They get wantin' to fight all the time. . . 'Course Lennie's a God damn nuisance most of the time, but you get used to goin' around with a guy an' you can't get rid of him.”
The importance of this quote is that throughout the book, George, the main character often shows resentment of his situation; having to take care of Lennie. But as the book progresses you see that he really cares for him and finally understands that it is important to have someone to be with... Because isolation is the worst.

"when mildred awakes, she feels a hangover but she does not remember whats going on. This is important because she forgot everything that was going on , she lost memory of things.
"clarisse treats montag differently because she says she doesnt want him to be like others. I find this important because if you think about it wouldnt this make you feel some type of way or maybe you went through the same thing having someone treat u different. Maybe she wanted their relationship between them last longer.
"shes gone.... calrisse disappears , of course this is important she left and no one does not know where she went she could have gotten killed someone could have took her.

"Dont you understand that i've retired from the business" I think that this is a HUGE point in the book because, i think that this barrier in the book will be broken and he would have to get back into the "Business"

"I had been worried for some time. Ronan was experiencing developmental delays, missing important milestones. I would rush home from work each day hoping he'd started to crawl or had said his first word. He was the same sweet, happy, gurgling baby-but that was the problem. He was the same at nine months old as he had been at six months. Our pediatrician suggested that we rule out any vision problems, so we drove from our home in Santa Fe to the pediatric ophthalmologist's office in Albuquerque." She explains how she got Ronan to the pediatrician quickly.
"'He has cherry-red spots on the back of his retina,' the doctor continued. 'I've only seen this one other time in fifteen years of practice. It's Tay-Sachs." He paused. 'I am so sorry.' ... Another doctor checked Ronan's eyes again, stoically, to confirm the diagnosis. 'Yes, I'd agree that is Tay-Sachs,' he said, and quickly left the room." It's important because Ronan's parents are trying to find out, from his pediatricians, about his diagnosis.

1. "Affirmative, qualifier variancy-area room-spheace-location nonlocating alteration-aversion-shift loss. Loss! Shift!" This is said by an alien whose language is extremely difficult to translate. The words that are made out however, as well as the emotion put into those words, let the reader know that something is going to happen, it's big and it's full of science.
2. "The when is stardate 4428.9; the personnel involved were members of the command crew of NCC 1701, before any of the additional registry letters were added." This is said by Data and is when it is made crystal clear to the readers that the main characters are in the mirror universe introduced in the original series.
3. "Not that I care. This is for my father--" This is said by the mirror Wesley when he is attempting to kill Picard, thinking he is his mirror counterpart. When he says this we see that in the mirror verse, That Picard killed his version of Wesley's father.
