Can someone please help me understand the expansive creative license taken when translating specifically the portion of The Papyrus of Ani from the Book of the Dead regarding the Lotus flower? No other translation of this text even comes close to containing this volume of information and detail. I fear Ellis has taken creative license past the level of historical accuracy into nearly fraudulent areas.

I do not believe Normandi Ellis has ever intended for this book to be historically accurate by any means. This is, at it's essence, a spiritual work inspired by the Papyrus of Ani. Thus, what you are reading is filtered through Ms. Ellis, and her spiritual inclinations. It appeals to a lot of people of similar inclinations, or just appreciate the beautiful prose. If you want something more along the lines of Historical accuracy, try the translations of Raymond Faulkner.
