ABANDONED. i need help remembering the names of these 2 books

The first book was about a girl who learned she could change her appearance with her mind. She was ridiculed as a child for being homely and she started changing her looks. She caused her beautiful sister to be in a wreck which left her face hideously scarred and the only remnant of her beauty was one sapphire blue eye. She caused the maid to pick poison mushrooms for her parents breakfast. She fed her victims to pet piranha and their bones were used for her rose garden.
The other book takes place during the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte. She is a girl who was brought up rich but because of war she meet with hard times. She is raped and the book does go into some graphic detail about the man then she is forced to work in the field but gains favor with a rich woman and she is taken in and given a makeover of sorts. They use mustard packs to cause her skin to peel like the leaves off of an onion. She meets back up with the man of her dreams and they get back together.

Kelly--it is usually better to post books separately. Otherwise a lot of confusion happens about "which book were we talking about now?" when the posts start getting long.

No ideas about either of your books, but I'll keep them in mind when I'm out hitting thrift stores and used bookstores, looking for reading material (Which, according to my husband, I don't need. He thinks I have too many books as it is.)

The first book about the girl who could move things with her mind I think the title was something like the rose of Sharon or something of the sort. There is a old woman in the book who is depicted as a witch with the same type of powers she has. The witch lives in a swamp and the girl eventually becomes more powerful than the witch and she causes the swamp to swallow the old woman.
