Jennifer (zookeeperx3) | 5 comments I've been looking for this for years so... help me, Obi-Wan you're my only hope :-)

I'm almost positive this book was a Troll or Scholastic ordered book or bought at a book fair sponsored by one of those. I would have read it in the late-ish 80s or very early 90s.

The main female character lived with a guardian rather than her parents (older sister, I think) and was in high school. There was a male friend of the guardian/sister - I think he was in college; he and the younger sister antagonized each other but they actually like one another and start dating by the end of the book. The one key detail that sticks out is the hero's name is Lance; the heroine snarkily calls him Lancelot (he maybe had a habit of coming to the rescue?) only to find out towards the end that his name really *is* Lancelot.

Jennifer, deleting your duplicate post. Here's what you posted there (just in case there is new information we want it all to be in one thread):

What I remember:

Mid-late teen girl (probably 16-17? but could be younger) has moved in with her older sister for some reason. I think she has a crush on a not-so-good guy and has an antagonistic relationship with her sister's friend (or the sister's boyfriend's friend... something like that); his name is Lance. The main thing that sticks in my memory is her sneering at him for some white-knight type behavior by making fun of his name - saying it must be short for Lancelot (IIRC it actually is short for that). Stuff happens and she and Lance end up together.

ETA - I'm pretty sure I ordered this through Weekly Reader or one of those types of things, and it was probably mid-late 80s when I read it but could have been published early 80s.

::crosses fingers that this time will be the time someone has heard of it::
