Kasia Hi guys! Maybe you can help me...

It was a book about a serial killer by night, a roofer by day. But he did not technically kill... He targeted young women who reminded him of his comatose wife. The guy was young and handsome, which made it was easy for him to get a date; a date that he would then drug, rape and finally cut the nerves at the back of her neck damaging the brainstem and stopping all her motor functions. The book was set in L.A. with a single 40ish brain specialist as a protagonist. Of course I don't remember her name. But I recall that she was taking care of all the victims, started writing a column in a local newspaper about all her comatose girls, hoping to flush out the creep. In the end it worked. One of the girls started getting some of her bodily functions back. The articles were getting to the guy... But then, of course, the doctor also had a personal connection with the creep. Oh the twists and the complications! She almost ended up as a victim herself. Almost. Because there was a HEA after all.

Rings a bell? It's torturing me that I don't remember the title or the author...

Kasia Thanks but I've just checked her out and none of the books I looked at fit... Besides I think it was written by a guy, though I'm not 100% sure.
