Amena | 30 comments Dear librarians,
I don't know if you are the right people to ask, but then again, you are the most knowledgeable people about, and you have always been very helpful.
Plus, you are LIBRARIANS, so you must be used to weird requests.
My question is simply, Is there a way of marking a book as currently being RE-read? I'd love my re-reads to appear on my reading list and to become part of the books I read for my challenge, but as I can only choose between "read", "want to read" and "currently reading" and these exclude each other mutually, I don't see how I could do this. I cannot set more than one date for reading, either.
I also tried to cheat by adding a different edition, but I can only "switch" then.
I think we agree that some books are worth being read twice, and some are worth being read over and over again.
Is there a way of reflecting this on Goodreads?

Jaideep Bhoosreddy (jaideep_bhoosreddy) | 92 comments Hi Amena. Currently, goodreads doesnt have a feature like this. The best you can do is create a shelf called "Re-Read". But this doesn't solve your purpose, it would give the book you re-read more importance than the others.
Considering that the purpose, of the challenge, is to encourage the readers to read more books rather than reading the same book again, I doubt you will get a solution you require. But all the same, you can pursure your query with GR Support at https://www.goodreads.com/about/conta...

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) | 12 comments You can sort of keep track of it with a sort of hidden feature. In your book review, hit "More Options" in the bottom-left;

Not the most amazing thing ever but it's something.

Nice catch Liam. Forgot all about that.

Moloch | 3975 comments The only way to make the book appear in two different year challenges is to add another edition and review it: it's not a perfect solution, because some books have just one edition (and some users don't like to shelve editions they don't own).

Better tracking of re-reads is one of the most requested features (you can see it in the Feedback group): this is something that GR intends to do someday, but apparently it's difficult to build so they don't have a prevision for when it will be available.

Amena | 30 comments Thank you very much for the information, especially Liam!

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) | 12 comments You can at least keep track of the dates/times you've read it so that when they DO add in a proper re-read function, you can retroactively add it.

This is not a Librarians Group issue, but one for the Feedback Group. Librarians can help with issues pertaining to specific book records or most related issues, but have no control over general site functionality or related issues. Closing thread.
