Steph Mcneill | 3 comments This book is at least 12 years old, so 2001 or earlier. Young girl from a world beyond the stars, being cared for by cruel and ignorant people (may have been kidnapped???) who keep people in cages in their basement for experimental purposes.
**SPOILER ALERT**
There is a scene where the girl goes into the basement and finds people in cages, including one man with a broken arm. She reaches through the bars and touches him and his arm heals instantly.

Is this YA, NA or adult? Do you remember WHERE on Earth she was?

Are the people who are holding her captive aware that she can heal people? Do you remember anything about what the experiments that were being carried out on the people in cages were?

Is this sci-fi or horror?

Steph Mcneill | 3 comments I'd say it's YA/adult. There was no focus on her actual location, but it was definitely first world, English-speaking.
The people holding her are not aware that she can heal, but they know she's special. I can't recall anything about the experiments, because they're not a big part. The girl only finds out about them when she heals the man's broken arm and he tells her.
She communicates with someone (a parent?) from her home-world via thought only. I think she's a princess.
It's sci-fi fantasy, but not horror.
I wish I could remember more.

NO idea what this is. I'd first thought that it might be Acorna: The Unicorn Girl but I don't remember the basement thing and experiments. And her "guardians" find her and rescue her after her parents are killed.

But I can say this--the book will be joining the Iftcan Mountain Range that is my TBR pile.
