Italia8989 What is your point of view on Romeo and Juliet? Why do you think it was written? Do you believe in love in its many forms, and if so, what is it to you? Do you think Shakespeare has some hidden messages about passion in this play? Have you ever had a "Romeo" or "Juliet"? Post everything you think about this play on here.

Marcy This might sound shallow or idiotic, but my favorite thing about R&J is the great job they did with West Side Story recreating Shakespeare's plot for modern times. WSS is my favorite movie of all time. I do love R&J, but WSS is to me even more wonderful.

I love West Side Story as well! I found a lot of obvious similarities between the two. However, there are still some apparent differences between the two. Maria and Tony are evidently more controlled and intelligent, but both of the male characters have this need for competition that eventually leaves to their demise.
