I'm there. Got my Swap Package almost done, just need to finish up the box and then pack it all. I go under MAZURI if anyone wants to hunt me down. I'm writing PNR (imagine that) this year :)

I love NaNoWriMo. I've done it for the past 5 years (and "won") but I don't know if I can make it this year. Too much stuff happening in the real world :)

If I'm caught up with my October goals, I'm thinking of trying that NaNoWriMo. I've seen it posted everywhere for like three years now. Of course, if I enter it I'd like to do as well as I could but I don't feel pressured to finish, win or anything.
It seems I've seen it is more like a personal motivational tool. What do you think? Where do you sign up, online?
Caroline, the link is at the top of this page. I think it is for personal motivation. I've never been able to finish it, but I WILL DO IT this year. I'm going to use the next few days to get familiar with the site and get ready mentally.

I use it to keep track and on task for my daily goals. I participated last year (won) and for the first spring camp (didn't), but had a blast both times. I'm nuts for trying again, but I enjoy the kick in the pants to stop procrastinating. :) (plus, the 5 free createspace books ain't shabby neither)

I have one book out and this is going to require an extreme amount of discipline.
I've done nanowrimo for six years now! I love it. There's nothing more motivating, plus I get to meet local authors at the write-ins. My username is n_taber if anyone wants to add me to their buddy lists.
This will be my 3rd NaNoWriMo and I've done two Camp NaNos also. I got two novels out of all that, The Lost King and The King's Ransom. I'm about to release my third and start my fourth next month.
Hi everyone. This is the first time I'm involved in NaNoWriMo, and am pretty excited. Things are getting hot, meeting new people from all over the world.I like to write fantasy and sci-fi, besides poetry, and I'm planning to write a fantasy novel for NaNoWriMo this year. I'm new writing a 50k word count novel, as I've never written that much for a single story yet. Pretty nervous about it as well.

I'll be doing NaNoWriMo this year. I've participated off and on over the past several years. Finished the goal within the 30 days a few times and not always logged my word count but it is a great experience doing it with a lot of other people. It is a great confidence builder to know that you can get your first draft out in 30 days and then go back and start the editing and polishing work. If it's your first time, just relax and enjoy the process. Persevere with the focus that "I can do this!" Don't stop if you miss a day, just pick up where you are and keep going.
I'm going to be taking part in NaNoWriMo for the first time. I do have two books published so far (one with a publisher, one e-book I published on my own) but both of them are non-fiction. I'm excited to be trying fiction and writing a full-length novel. Like someone said above, I'm fine whether or not I finish in November. My intention is to explore a new area of my creativity.I'm also new to this group, so um, hi there. :)

Welcome, Nikki! As far as Nano goes, I'd recommend connecting with online folks like us, but also the local write-ins. If you find your local group, they are likely having a Kick-Off Party where you can meet them. A lot of writers are socially awkward (like me), so it's nice to meet other people who won't judge (but they may turn you into a character). Good luck!
I'm participating! I'm trying to figure out how to be in touch w/ writers from the site or here. I did check my local and hope to meet them very soon.I'm a first timer.
I have a full-length novel all plotted out and ready to write. Should be around 80,000-100,000 words when finished. I'm pretty excited for NaNoMo this year. My idea is so...off the wall that I'm sure it will offend those that aren't capable of laughing at it ;)
I'm joining again this year--NaNo seems to bring me good luck. My first contract was from a novel I did in 2007's NaNo ("Despite the Ghosts") and I'm in contract for one ("Despite the Fangs")based on the NaNo I did two years ago. I'd love some writing buddies to keep my AIC (*ss In Chair) for November, though. I'm listed in NaNo under DylanNewton. Looking forward to getting started!!
I'm in again this year but as a rebel - have to finish WIP hope to do so with nano - it needs about another 60,000
I'd like to check in w/ someone now and then. I'll be attempting the NaNo month, trying to get ready for this.

My (official) first NaNo - I signed up maybe 4 years ago and it never really took. This time for sure though...I have a piece I'm dying to get started on...that and a friend of mine roped me into doing it, so it's like being tied into a marathon...or thrown into the army or something else with a short period of pain and suffering and training of some sort. I'm feeling relatively confident I can finish it...the active word being relatively. Hope y'all say hello if you like during the "Month of Madness", and I'll see you on the other side. :)

Mimi, don't worry about "breaking the rules". It's called being a Nano Rebel, and I am also one this year. But definitely sign up, join your local group (online or in person), and get to know other people struggling to find time to write. It's a valuable experience, and the effects of Nano last for several months afterward. It helps you prioritize writing.Long comment short: join up, even if you are a rebel! I'm signed up and have been shooting for doing it the past couple of weeks since I finished up my last project - just published today - am still hedging a bit but pretty sure I'm going to do it. My issue is that I refuse to just get caught up in the word count. I want something that can be taken to full publication....
Kenny, I think the object is to get at least 50K of a first draft done, not to complete something ready to publish.
I understand that Beau. I actually did it once long long ago...Just saying what my priorities are, not word count. :) The idea (for me) would be to produce something that could be without too much trouble enhanced/polished (without completely re-writing) to be publishable. :)We'll see...I do have an idea and a bit of a plan....not much more though :(
My two cents on NaNo - I look at NaNo more as a way to keep me on track. It gives me a firm deadline that is trackable. The graph is my kick in the pants motivation when I want to slough off and play The Tribez for hours on end instead of working on my draft (or do laundry, or cook dinner, or, or, or...). I won last year. I didn't "win" my first Camp NaNo, but I still won. I accomplished what I set out to do.December is time to edit the ever-loving suck out of the words written in November, but NaNo ensures I have a respectable chunk of text to edit :)

Hey J, good for you. I spent yesterday editing/finishing up my Growing Up Stories which is now available so did not get the planning for Nanowrimo done as I'd hoped, but I've got a start on it....20 good words so far and it's only 4:30 A.M. :)
I am! Though this is the first time I'm participating and don't know what's happening or how I'm going to finish writing so much!
I decided to do something outside my usual writing area. Normally I'm more urban fantasy but this will be pure fantasy and it will need the kind of length a fantasy novel will have so there is work to be done!
I'm struggling due to non-writing issues....but have about 1000 words....maybe 20 or 30 of them are good words.... :)I'm trying to do a current or very near future mainstream/speculative sort of thing.
My biggest issue is that I've not done much fiction at all recently....no promises...
Doing the NaNoWriMo ... have just finished the outline, places, characters, chapters(23) and bits on first three chaps. Now, I must start typing and not look back. Ready, set, go.Anybody else doing it?
Day 1: 1540 words, Day 2: 1260 words. Slightly under the average needed which is 1660 or so. Once I get to 10,000 words it always feels as if a major barrier has been broken so I am aiming for that! Anybody else play those sorts of mind games with yourself?
Yeah, chapter one done. Twenty four hundred words makes me happy, though I won't be writing every day. A pumped day as opposed to a frustrating day ...
