Anima Miejska | 1698 comments Tessa, welcome to the challenge :)

I have Monstrumologist on my tbr list, the same with The Knife of Never Letting Go, I read Wuthering Heights and I love this book, and we are going to have a buddy read for Princess Bride in December.

All the best with your reading, have a great time!

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments Yes, I've been wanting to read Wuthering Heights for such a long time. I read Jane Eyre in romanian and loved it, but when a friend gave me WH as a gift, in english, I've realized it surpassed a little (a lot) my english knowledge. After reading 200 books in english including some classics I'm finally ready to give this a second chance. Worst comes to worse and I still can't understand it I'll just go to my local library and read it in romanian XD.

I have Monstrumologist on my tbr list, the same with The Knife of Never Letting Go
If you want to do a buddy reading for them let me know :) .

Anima Miejska | 1698 comments I would gladly do it, but maybe next year as I'm stuck with various buddy reads and BOMs and other reads for my studies LOL, still I will keep it in mind and maybe in March or April we can schedule some of these books :)

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments Haha, I don't think next year I'll still have these books in my TBR list. As you can see from my challenge, I'm planning to read them this year XD. But we shall see. Let me know when you are free. I'm open to a lot of suggestions and I'm always happy to do a buddy read :) .

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments So, finished 2 so far.

Dance of the red Death - this was the sequel for The mask of the red Death. The ending wasn't that bad, but the book itself was less enjoyable than the first book. There's a lot of running around from a place to another and the author interpretation of Poe's metaphors are way to literal.

Out of the Easy - this was very similar with A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly , but it was less enjoyable that than one. Here the bad guys never get punished and even thought it's made to look more realistic like this, it's not. There's a balance in the universe that never lets our deeds get unpunished [good or bad]. I believe that and I've seen that countless times. This book kinda got the balance to incline a little more towards the bad stuff, for more drama I guess. Anyway, it was a very good book, but the ending felt a little unfinished for me.

Started Rebecca this weekend and I'm struggling to finish Siddhartha. As much as this is about the inner revelations I don't feel it so far. Ugh...

24 left to go.

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments I finished another 2:

Siddhartha - disapointing and boring. For something that tries to promote simplicity it sure used a lot of words. This book talks about revelation and about discovering oneself as he is, of acceptance and love of the uselessness of the words and yet, it uses many.

Rebecca - beautiful and haunting. Loved every chapter of it. I like the author's style and I really think I'm going to try more from her books. Rather than a mystery I felt that this was a self exploring book. The main character is trying to define herself and not be drowned in the image of Rebecca and other people's expectations of her.

I'm going to finish The Thief soon :).

22 left to go.

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments Finished recently:
The Name of the Star - this was a surprisingly good read. I didn't heard a lot of this book so I was a little skeptical, but the writing was amazing: fun and full of pertinent plot development. Nothing felt rushed or half heatedly explained. I really love it1 ^^ Can't wait to start reading the second book.

The Thief - It was a fun fantasy and Gen was a very likable character. I didn't love it, but it was good enough to make me want to try the second book :) .

Veronica Roth - Allegiant - like I said before, the word disappointing is an understatement. Veronica didn't even try to to write something pertinent and believe in this book, didn't even consider to fix all the plot holes in it, insisted on writing this from dual POV when it's clearly she has no such ability. She could have made this kind of experiments with a new series, not ruin this series for me. She knew she had a solid fan-base so she just went along and wrote whatever knowing people will buy this regardless of what the reviews will say. Maybe this was just an experiment and right now we're in a simulation. Anyway, I want out! Q.Q

19 left to go! ^^

Tessa (tessa_ioana) | 75 comments Missed this challenge with 2 books. I didn't have time to read Unwind, my exams started :( .
Eh, well, last book read was Dust and Decay. It was ok, but I found it more boring than the first book in the series and after realizing the 3rd one was even more boring I decided to give up on this series :( .
