I suppose I find it surprising how many authors write books set in England, but don't seem to know much about the country... Every time I think of David Cameron, I think of the man who is trying to get pornography banned.
But I will admit it was a nice-sounding name for a hero. Nice and strong and not at all flowery, like some HR hero names can be. :)

I suppose I find it surprising how many authors write books set in Englan..."
LMAO at that photo of Tony Abbott :D

I'm dying over here... xD["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

haha me too :D

ROFL,I'm curious
who is it?

1. Man-oh-man! I love to swim. As much as I think I’d like to go back in time, not being allowed to swim would drive me nuts. We’ve come a long way. Comments.
2. Any guesses as to why Second Lieutenant David Cameron wanted to kill himself? Something to do with a prior love? And, according to his mother, he needs a young woman with a decent dowry, which Caroline is not; though he feels he doesn’t diverse happiness. Comments.
3. Is it conceivable a 12 year old could save an adult male swimmer? Do you like Caroline Tolbertson, the too-tall heroine? (Born in the wrong century.)
4. Brandon Dermott. What a dweeb. Obviously. I hope he gets his comeuppance. However, what is your impression of Miss Julianne Baxter? Will she be Caroline’s enemy or friend?
5. And Caroline’s mother knew Julianne’s father, Lord Avery. Will that come into play?
6. Any guesses as to if Caroline’s sister, Penelope, will be disgraced, run the paper, stop stuttering, or find true love?
7. Cannabis? I’ve heard of hashish and cocaine in historical romances, but never a cannabis cheroot. Have you?
8. Comments on David and Caroline’s first kiss? David’s comments to the dinner guests? Will rumors abound?
9. Whoa. Comments on David and Caroline’s midnight swim? Not quite skinny-dipping, but close enough. It looks like David’s mermaid holds some allure. Did you enjoy the chase? Did you think there was going to be a mandatory wedding, when Dermott and friends stumbled upon them? Disappointed there wasn’t?

1. Man-oh-man! I love to swim. As much as I think I’d like to go back in time, not being allowed to swim would drive me nuts. We’ve come a long way. Comments.
We definitely have! From those sort of restriction to the way things are today. We still have a long way to go ,more for some countries than the others.
2. Any guesses as to why Second Lieutenant David Cameron wanted to kill himself? Something to do with a prior love? And, according to his mother, he needs a young woman with a decent dowry, which Caroline is not; though he feels he doesn’t diverse happiness. Comments.
My theory is he fell in love with a girl ,she got pregnant and then killed herself or something close to this.He feels guilty for whatever that happened to the other girl so he think he doesn't deserve to be happy. As for the dowery , his investment will work and all will be fine!
3. Is it conceivable a 12 year old could save an adult male swimmer? Do you like Caroline Tolbertson, the too-tall heroine? (Born in the wrong century.)
He didn't seem to be a great swimmer ,just decent . and she didn't touch him or anything , just told him what to do so it was believable for me.I like her so far ,I only wish she wasn't in love with him. It makes her look silly
4. Brandon Dermott. What a dweeb. Obviously. I hope he gets his comeuppance. However, what is your impression of Miss Julianne Baxter? Will she be Caroline’s enemy or friend?
Oh he will !She doesn't seem like a bad sort , she just got involved with bad people , she might not be a friend but not a enemy either
5. And Caroline’s mother knew Julianne’s father, Lord Avery. Will that come into play?
Yes I thought about that. I think they were involved before C's mother fell in love and married . we might have a side love story here
6. Any guesses as to if Caroline’s sister, Penelope, will be disgraced, run the paper, stop stuttering, or find true love?
Can I first say that I 'm disappointed ?I was hoping that she'd be decent and proper miss and then she ruined it all by trying the cigar !Silly girl!
She'll run the paper and find true love with her stutter!
7. Cannabis? I’ve heard of hashish and cocaine in historical romances, but never a cannabis cheroot. Have you?
no ,that was the first. Does one inhalation make you that silly and out of it?
8. Comments on David and Caroline’s first kiss? David’s comments to the dinner guests? Will rumors abound?
I think there will be rumors about how good she will be in bed because of her long legs. I was so angry at David for saying those things
They didn't realize it was Caroline ,it was a bit unbelievable that David saw her bare legs and they didn't .
I don't think there will be mandatory wedding and yes a bit disappointed .I'm a big fan of those in historical romances.

It's Ryuki from an anime called Colorcloud Palace. :)"
Haven't watched that but he seems crush worthy :D

10.It’s just as I thought it would be. Those comments about Caroline’s long legs have inspired all the young men. All the attention coming from these young men can’t be a good thing. Why there isn’t one eligible young man among this crowd?
11.He really doesn’t know what he wants from her. One moment he is jealous and all over her and the next he is pushing her away. Do you enjoy it? Or do you want to smack him? I wonder when he is going to admit to himself that she is not just a friend?!
12. I wish there was a way for Caroline to participate in the completion but David participation isn’t a bad idea either. I actually quite liked this idea. Did you? Is he going to win? Can you see a way for Caroline to participate?
13. Caroline thoughts about marriage and how a husband would affect her future were really depressing. But for that era it was a normal affair. Comments.
14. She’s been swimming there for ages and alone and he told her that he didn’t want her swimming alone anymore .Not a wise thing to say! Why do men think they know best? I only hope there won’t be a dramatic scene of Caroline drowning and David saving her. Can anything like this happen?
15.I loved it when she told him that she thinks he is her match. It was courageous .But I didn’t like his reply. What did you think of their conversation and his excuses?
16. I searched “what happens in Scotland” for “Elizabeth Ramsey” . She is mentioned there, I totally had forgotten about it. She is the reason there was friction between David, James McKenzie and his father. Do you remember? Or have you even read the other book?
17.What did you think about this comment?
“Your whole body tenses up when you speak of the girl you loved. It looks as if a lifetime of shuttlecock would be more enjoyable, if you will forgive the observation.”
McQuiston, Jennifer (2013-09-24). Summer Is for Lovers (p. 151). HarperCollins. Kindle Edition.
18.I had to search for these bathing machines . They look pretty scary. Would you have gotten into one of these?(view spoiler)
19.What do you think about Pen and Mr. Hamilton? Is it romance brewing there or is has something to do with Penelope writing? If it’s personal why did he want to call on Caroline?["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

1. I love to swim too, though I'm not real great at it. I do ok though, I'm pretty confident I won't drown under normal circumstances. I'm glad we've come so far, I'd die with all the restrictions our ancestors had.
2. Yea, it was in book 1, the girl he and James both loved or something like that, and she offed herself because her father was a colossal meanie I think. Maybe.
As for the dowry, etc, they'll work it out ;)
3. Well, if she'd have had to physically haul him to shore, I'd say no, but she just gave him advice, so it was ok. Yes, I like her quite well so far!
4. I totally wanna punch him in his smirking face! I knew guys like him before, and in my opinion, they need neutered, lmao. Miss Baxter, I was against her at first, took her for just a prissy little bitch, but she almost showed some normalcy for a minute, so I'm kinda wondering myself. Friend or foe?
5. I'm curious. Maybe he'll somehow draw her out of her reclusive shell she's been in since her husband's death.
6. Personally, I'm hoping she'll get love with the red-haired cheroot passer who was flirting with her. She almost reminds me of the older Bennet sister, the blonde one who was always nice and quiet, and stuff in the Pride and Prejudice movie. Sorta, lol. Is she into the paper or writing or something? I missed it. I liked how she seemed all quiet, but took the chance and hit the cheroot. Was brave, I liked it. But no, one hit will not make you loopy like that, not unless you were already tipsy from drinking. Made me laugh though :)
7. I was totally surprised! Not something often seen in HRs. Only other one I know is in The Charm School, they smoke one before going swimming in a tropical waterfall pool and getting their groove on ;)
8. I kinda like how it wasn't perfect, all-consuming, soul-stealing, etc (ahem, *cough* Cynsters). Not sure if I liked how he was all 'meh' about feeling any attraction, and kept thinking how her body wasn't his usual type. Definitely didn't like how she charged out of there. I was more hoping for the Der-wad to catch them kissing real good, and have everyone know she was kissable. I liked how he stood up for her in his way though. Someone had to!
9. I just knew he was gonna find her, too good an opportunity. I liked how it turned playful, and they actually talked, and had a good kiss. She needed a good one, lol. I actually liked how he told the guys that she was attractive. Dumbasses can't look past a girl's dress and height to talk to her, I liked how he painted her in a sexy light.

10.It’s just as I thought it would be. Those comments about Caroline’s long legs have inspired all the young men. All the attention coming from these young men can’t be a good thing. Why there isn’t one eligible young man among this crowd?
I think the absence of an eligible man works to the advantage of David who insists on acting as Caroline’s chaperone. However I rather think that even if an eligible man was present, David would find flaws in him too so that he doesn’t have to give up on Caroline.
11.He really doesn’t know what he wants from her. One moment he is jealous and all over her and the next he is pushing her away. Do you enjoy it? Or do you want to smack him? I wonder when he is going to admit to himself that she is not just a friend?!
I enjoyed his jealousy. But I really wanted to smack him for being so obtuse. Even if he realises Caroline to be more than a friend, he would be disinclined to admit it because of what happened in his past.
12. I wish there was a way for Caroline to participate in the completion but David participation isn’t a bad idea either. I actually quite liked this idea. Did you? Is he going to win? Can you see a way for Caroline to participate?
I really liked the idea of David participating in her stead. I hope he wins. I thought about a lot of scenarios where Caroline could participate, but could not come with any practical solution.
13. Caroline thoughts about marriage and how a husband would affect her future were really depressing. But for that era it was a normal affair. Comments.
I agree that the kind of married life she imagines is what was common at that time.
But then Caroline isn’t a normal miss. She tries to be a decorous lady to placate her mother; however, that does not inhibit her from swimming. It would be disappointing to see her lose that spirit and get moulded into the hollow cast of the mundane life of a proper English lady.
14. She’s been swimming there for ages and alone and he told her that he didn’t want her swimming alone anymore .Not a wise thing to say! Why do men think they know best? I only hope there won’t be a dramatic scene of Caroline drowning and David saving her. Can anything like this happen?
I think that after living in the patriarchal society for thousands of years, the Y-chromosome has mutated into thinking they are better than the double X-chromosome. Some superstitions are hard to expel. But I believe David said that because he was worried about her safety, and not to prove some macho sense of responsibility.
We have already witnessed an exact antithesis of that scene; and unless Caroline is drunk, unconscious or plain suicidal, something like that is unlikely.
15.I loved it when she told him that she thinks he is her match. It was courageous .But I didn’t like his reply. What did you think of their conversation and his excuses?
I applaud Caroline’s courage. David should have expected it after being that intimate with someone who was an innocent. His excuses felt weak to me since it happened more than a decade ago. Caroline handled herself quite better than David I think. She actually seemed to be more rational than him in that conversation.
16. I searched “what happens in Scotland” for “Elizabeth Ramsey” . She is mentioned there, I totally had forgotten about it. She is the reason there was friction between David, James McKenzie and his father. Do you remember? Or have you even read the other book?
I am yet to read the other book; but whoever Elizabeth Ramsey is, she does not seem to be a likeable person given the impression that she killed herself in a fit of temper.
I would say Caroline is one of those admirable people who can find humour in a situation where any other weak person would become hysterical. The way she refuses to let David off the hook without a proper reason is attributed to her strength of character.
18.I had to search for these bathing machines . They look pretty scary. Would you have gotten into one of these?(view spoiler)
No, I don’t like narrow confines. I would rather swim in a larger place or in the open ocean like Caroline, or not swim at all.
19.What do you think about Pen and Mr. Hamilton? Is it romance brewing there or is has something to do with Penelope writing? If it’s personal why did he want to call on Caroline?
I feel some attraction is there between Pen and Hamilton, but I am not certain if it was only because of her writing. I think Mr. Hamilton said he wanted to call on Caroline because she was considered the new sensation and he wanted to interview her perhaps, or maybe he realised Caroline’s reticence and thought he should help her. It did seem that he quite liked talking to Penelope.

1. Man-oh-man! I love to swim. As much as I think I’d like to go back in time, not being allowed to swim would drive me nuts. We’ve come a long way. Comments.
I like that swimming being an integral part of this book, I think it made it much more unique than usual historical romance :)
2. Any guesses as to why Second Lieutenant David Cameron wanted to kill himself? Something to do with a prior love? And, according to his mother, he needs a young woman with a decent dowry, which Caroline is not; though he feels he doesn’t diverse happiness. Comments.
It would be explain at later chapter, Lisa and also the reason why David at odds with Mackenzie from

3. Is it conceivable a 12 year old could save an adult male swimmer? Do you like Caroline Tolbertson, the too-tall heroine? (Born in the wrong century.)
well she didn't exactly need to drag him out of water, she just talked him out of his desperate state, I think. And yes I really like Caroline
4. Brandon Dermott. What a dweeb. Obviously. I hope he gets his comeuppance. However, what is your impression of Miss Julianne Baxter? Will she be Caroline’s enemy or friend?
I think Julianne was somewhat like Hyacinth from Bridgerton. She'll be the heroine in the next book. From the excerpt, I think she'll be fun to read :)
5. And Caroline’s mother knew Julianne’s father, Lord Avery. Will that come into play?
I already finished the book, but I wouldn't tell :D
6. Any guesses as to if Caroline’s sister, Penelope, will be disgraced, run the paper, stop stuttering, or find true love?
Again, my lips were sealed
7. Cannabis? I’ve heard of hashish and cocaine in historical romances, but never a cannabis cheroot. Have you?
Me neither, Lisa,
8. Comments on David and Caroline’s first kiss? David’s comments to the dinner guests? Will rumors abound?
The kiss was okay. I like the way David put Dermott in his place :D
Naughty naughty David Cameron! I must say that I cringe when I type that, I still think of David Cameron the British PM :'D

10.It’s just as I thought it would be. Those comments about Caroline’s long legs have inspired all the young men. All the attention coming from these young men can’t be a good thing. Why there isn’t one eligible young man among this crowd?
Dermott seemed to be in younger age group, fresh out of university perhaps, and his status wasn't high either so there was no other handsome rich Lord arround
11.He really doesn’t know what he wants from her. One moment he is jealous and all over her and the next he is pushing her away. Do you enjoy it? Or do you want to smack him? I wonder when he is going to admit to himself that she is not just a friend?!
Typical man. He doesn't want her for himself, but he doesn't want other to have her
12. I wish there was a way for Caroline to participate in the completion but David participation isn’t a bad idea either. I actually quite liked this idea. Did you? Is he going to win? Can you see a way for Caroline to participate?
Hehe just wait and see :D
13. Caroline thoughts about marriage and how a husband would affect her future were really depressing. But for that era it was a normal affair. Comments.
Yes it was depressing.
14. She’s been swimming there for ages and alone and he told her that he didn’t want her swimming alone anymore .Not a wise thing to say! Why do men think they know best? I only hope there won’t be a dramatic scene of Caroline drowning and David saving her. Can anything like this happen?
Don't worry ShoSho, I think you going to love how it end
15.I loved it when she told him that she thinks he is her match. It was courageous .But I didn’t like his reply. What did you think of their conversation and his excuses?
I like that she was so straight forward with him, I didn't like his respond, but I can understand why he afraid to love again
16. I searched “what happens in Scotland” for “Elizabeth Ramsey” . She is mentioned there, I totally had forgotten about it. She is the reason there was friction between David, James McKenzie and his father. Do you remember? Or have you even read the other book?
I remember I like the book, but I didn't remember much, I even didn't remember Mackenzie until David mentioned his name :D
I think it apt observation, but if its true love, I suppose a lifetime of shuttlecock would be worth it :D
18.I had to search for these bathing machines . They look pretty scary. Would you have gotten into one of these?
Er , no, thank you!
19.What do you think about Pen and Mr. Hamilton? Is it romance brewing there or is has something to do with Penelope writing? If it’s personal why did he want to call on Caroline?
Hehe, wait and see :D

#1 – Very true. It is appalling what happens to women in other countries of the world in this day and age.
#2 – I’ll try and remember your guesses! I figure he’ll get offered a better governing job – one that pays!
#3 – Aww… young girls. I thought it was just a crush. She was just imagining kissing him, etc.
#5 – I think you may be right.
#7 – I think it takes more than that, at least time wise. Especially your first time.
#8 – Yes, I thought he should have kept his mouth shut. Even if he is right about her legs.

#2 – Wow. I’m drawing a complete blank.
#4 – LMBO! That sounds justifiable! Yes, Miss Baxter has me perplexed. She also strikes me as someone who may need rescuing.
#5 – True! She needs to get out of the house.
#7 – True. That’s the book! Loved The Charm School; loved the heroine in that one. I need to re-read it.
#8 – LOL! (Cynsters) For all his ‘meh’ – he is sure thinking about her tons. Silly man; when will he realize?
#9 – Yes, I like how it turned playful.

#1 – I like that aspect, too. And very true; man/woman getting back into the ocean was pretty historic for the era.
#2 – Okay, I’ll be on the lookout.
#4 – That’s what I’m beginning to think.
#5 & #6 – LOL! Good for you.
#9 - ☺

10. It made me laugh, David must've painted one hell of a mental image for these guys to be panting after her like puppies. Seems like all of them are in the early twenties fresh set, still going on family vacations with their parents. The older, more eligible single men are at their country estates managing things and all that :)
11. I know! Driving me crazy. If he just wants to be friends, then he shouldn't go breathing in her ear and getting all touchy feely. He oughta know by now that any girl would perceive that as flirting and interest.
12. I figured she'd wear a baggy bathing costume, bind her boobs, put her hair up under a bathing cap, and sneak into the race. I was a little surprised by his wanting to race, and having her teach him, though I admit it's perfect for them to get alone time :p I like how he actually needs the prize money too, it's nice that he's not an uber well-to-do rich guy who can just go blow loads of money whenever he wants. I'm hoping he wins, and Dermott gets stung by some jellyfish, lol!
13. Yea, was a little depressing, though didn't get me too down since obviously they'll get the HEA. Sad though that so many women through history had to smother their own wants, dreams, etc. I can't imagine not having the options we have now. I suppose though if I lived back then, and it was all I knew, I'd be more adaptable, and try to make the best of it.
14. Seriously, I was like, whoa man, misstep there. She's been swimming there all her life and he's been there 3 times, yet felt he could tell her what to do. I'd be mad at him too. Guys. They just don't know when to hush sometimes. Oh man, I hope there's no Caroline drowning scene either, I like how she's an awesome swimmer, I'd hate to see her brought down like that, lol.
15. I was actually shocked. Like, oh no, what did you just do. Silly girl opening your big mouth. I would never tell a crush that I thought we'd be good together, and certainly not keep pressing the matter and asking why after getting rejected! I'd die! The whole scene made me uncomfortable for the both of them, him for her putting him in that position (I mean, they've known each other what, 3 days, not counting their first encounter when she was 12?) If I was a guy, I'd be uncomfortable with a girl asking me why I couldn't marry her after such short acquaintance too. And I felt embarrassed for her for putting her thoughts out there and being shot down, that's never fun.
16. Yep, read the other book on our buddy read. I vaguely remembered it, but not the details.
17. Of course he's uncomfortable talking about her, as he did have a bit of fault, imagined or not, in her choice to die from what I recall. Would make a body tense up.
18. Nah, you'd be swishing in horse poo water probably! And eww at their mention of how the sewer pipe dumped out on the one side of where those contraptions pulled into the water. No thanks, I'll stick with Caroline's little beach, seems much cleaner!
19. I'm still rooting for Pen and Hamilton! Crossing fingers :)

10. It’s just as I thought it would be. Those comments about Caroline’s long legs have inspired all the young men. All the attention coming from these young men can’t be a good thing. Why there isn’t one eligible young man among this crowd?
Yes, seems like there would be more. However, it is Brighton, not London.
11. He really doesn’t know what he wants from her. One moment he is jealous and all over her and the next he is pushing her away. Do you enjoy it? Or do you want to smack him? I wonder when he is going to admit to himself that she is not just a friend?!
Well, I can only take so much of the ‘come here, go away’ thing. Although my second husband and I were like that. LOL! But, yes, I’d like him to admit and commit.
12. I wish there was a way for Caroline to participate in the completion but David participation isn’t a bad idea either. I actually quite liked this idea. Did you? Is he going to win? Can you see a way for Caroline to participate?
I was a little surprised by that twist; not a bad idea. I hope he wins and gives Caroline credit. I think her participating would have been too farfetched.
13. Caroline thoughts about marriage and how a husband would affect her future were really depressing. But for that era it was a normal affair. Comments.
Very true, though! Ugh. Another reason not to go back in time.
14. She’s been swimming there for ages and alone and he told her that he didn’t want her swimming alone anymore. Not a wise thing to say! Why do men think they know best? I only hope there won’t be a dramatic scene of Caroline drowning and David saving her. Can anything like this happen?
I agree; too much of a ‘no-no’ for her to resist. **shrugs** You never know. Maybe the student will overcome the master.
15. I loved it when she told him that she thinks he is her match. It was courageous .But I didn’t like his reply. What did you think of their conversation and his excuses?
Men! His replies were just that – excuses. He doesn’t feel worthy.
16. I searched “what happens in Scotland” for “Elizabeth Ramsey”. She is mentioned there, I totally had forgotten about it. She is the reason there was friction between David, James McKenzie and his father. Do you remember? Or have you even read the other book?
Nope. Completely slipped my mind.
17. What did you think about this comment?
“Your whole body tenses up when you speak of the girl you loved. It looks as if a lifetime of shuttlecock would be more enjoyable, if you will forgive the observation.”
McQuiston, Jennifer (2013-09-24). Summer Is for Lovers (p. 151). HarperCollins. Kindle Edition.
I think it is was a good question – and a good point. Is that love? Of course, he’s got guilt attached.
18.I had to search for these bathing machines . They look pretty scary. Would you have gotten into one of these?(view spoiler)
No. They look like a death trap! LOL! Do you know any of the mortality statistics?
19. What do you think about Pen and Mr. Hamilton? Is it romance brewing there or is has something to do with Penelope writing? If it’s personal why did he want to call on Caroline?
Not a clue. At first I thought he was there for Caroline. But, I’m thinking a mutual interest will bloom into romance.

#10 – I think you’re right; David would be pointing out their flaws.
#12 – I agree; nothing practical. We’ll see, though.
#13 – Goodness, yes!
#14 – LMBO! You’re killing me. But, yes, I like that David is concerned for her safety.
#15 – Again, I agree with you; I liked Caroline better in that scene than David.
#17 – The ability to laugh at yourself is an important quality, I think.

#11 – What is that called? Sour grapes, or something?
#14 – Well, that’s encouraging!
#17 – LOL! Very true.

#10 – LOL! Very true; they are all quite young. Good point.
#11 – Yes, he is old enough to know better. He needs to be a little more self-aware.
#12 – Yes, nice set-up for alone time. LOL – over Dermott’s demise.
#14 – Ditto! I hope not, too.
#15 – Oh, you have some good points here.
#18 – Yuck!

#18- Not really couldn't find anything other than In Extraordinary Origins of Everyday Things, Charles Panati mentions that there were a number of fatalities in Europe and America due to “waterlogged bathers caught in an undertow.”
But it must have been dangerous
