How would you make the book you're reading into a movie (answer this even if the book you're reading has already been made into a movie).

1. What parts of the plot would you emphasize, and what parts would you exclude?

2. Who would you cast as the protagonist, and who as the antagonist; who would you cast as the supporting characters? Why would you make these casting decisions?

3. Who would your target audience be for this movie?

4. Finally, how you would hook your target audience through the trailer? What moments in the book would you want to make sure were included in the trailer, and why would you want to include these?

Luis Angel | 17 comments I am now reading part 2 of the Pendragon series: The Lost City of Faar

1.) I would emphasize any emotional toil that the main character Pendragon emphasizes. I might exclude certain mundane things that the character does. Since the main parts of the book are written in first person I might have to have the Pendragon or Uncle Press narrate some things. Maybe I'll have Pendragon think out loud because most of his thoughts he doesn't say.

2.) I would cast Pendragon, Mark, Courtney, Loor, and Press as protagonists as the story revolves around them almost nonstop. Saint Dane would be the antagonist (as he is the only one until way later in the series). Supporting characters would be the fellow Travelers the main character meets as well as important people native to the different territories.

3.) My target audience would be 13-17 year olds, as the story would most likely appeal to them, as it is the same age range of the characters throughout the series.

4.) I would include the events and things that don't exist in our world like flumes, quigs, traveller rings, and such. I would also put in the tense, action moments packed moments. I feel this would be most interesting, and would get more viewers.

Miriam | 20 comments 1My book is Romeo and juliet and i like how they made it into the movie how they did cause they kinda over exadurated the plot but that made it interesting. btw(there is also a remake of it coming out this month). 2. for the protagonist i still would cas leonardo decapreo he just fits the role great. for the antagonist Johnny depp... that would be interesting 3. my target audience would be teenagers round my age because that is what you usually study in highschool is shakespear and to make it fun and make it new it would be cool. 4 shoot some scenes and cut it off in the middle maybe make it a little funny so that theres a twist and not just any romance movie so make it different.

Superocp | 22 comments If I were to make the book I am reading into a movie, I would include scenarios such as, when Brad dies, how Caroline tries to survive with her kids, when she gets married and the haunting scenes of when the kids experience things in their new home. I would exclude parts like, when the character think to themselves, or when the kids get babysat by Melanie. The protagonist would be Caroline because the story is about her after all. The antagonist is Anthony Flemming because he's the reason why all the bad stuff is happening. The supporting characters would be Ryan, Laurie, and Andrea because they stay around for each chapter of the book. The audience I would try to target would be young adults. In the trailer, I would present a horror film, which includes the scene of when Caroline loses her husband, Andrea saying she has a bad feeling about this and when the kids go through the haunted building. I include these scenes because this would give the viewer suspense about seeing the movie without giving any major plot twists.

Alvin | 18 comments If the book I was reading would be turned into a movie.(Which it will be shortly in November) then I would do the following. I would make sure that the movie sticks with all the elements (if not most) of the book. I would do this because most readers now a days hate on movies due to the directors not representing/referring to the book. I would keep the cast, the cast seems find to me. The target audience would be ranging from 10-30. I would hook people into the trailer by showing desperation-like scenes. Then i'll follow up by showing humorous scenes. And with all of this said and done I think I would have me a movie.

Max | 25 comments I am reading the book The Catcher in the Rye.
I would emphasis how the characters act overall. I think it is very important that if The Catcher and the Rye was turned into a movie that the characters act exactly how the book says. Otherwise it wouldn't be the same. As the protagonist I would cast an actor who seems awkward but not shy whatsoever. I can't really think of anyone in particular but they would need those traits. There is no exact antagonist in the book yet. The target audience would be anyone who can see and understand. I would hook them with bits of the story, not a regular trailer but a trailer thats like, "Hi, I am... etc" and it goes on and then ends with something that goes too into it. It may not work but if what was said in it was perfect, it would be great.

Wyatt | 21 comments If I made Maus by Art Speigleman into a movie, I would emphasize Vladek's escape from the camps. I wouldn't edit out anything. It is hard to say who I would cast in this movie. My target audience would be anyone willing to see an adaptation of an book that covers a very important yet awful part of history. I would hook people in the trailer by reminding them it is a true story of a survivor and it actually happened in real life, making it more relateable to an average person.

Nicholas Charity | 19 comments I am now reading the book called The Maze Runner
If I made this book into a movie I would focus on how the main character doesn't remember most of his life and how the world came to an end

Angelica Sullivan | 24 comments I am now reading the book the abundance of katherines by john green. i think if this book was turned into a movie i would emphasize on how the main character feels or reacts when he learns he started falling for another girl named katherine. i would cast logan lerman as colin; the main character. i would cast him because hes payed characters like colin in many movies. my target audience would be teenagers. i think the plot of the book would make the audience get interested enough to watch the movie.

message 10: by Kyrese (new)

Kyrese Adams | 23 comments 1.) I would emphasize the main problems and conflict. I would not emphasize the minor details.
2.) As the protagonist I would cast James Roday and as the antagonist I would cast Mark Sheppard.
3.)All Ages

I agree with Kyrese I would emphasize the main problems , but i would exclude the side problems, ( not all ).

2.i would cast spongebob as the protagonist and mr.Krabs as the antagonist and Squidward as the side character.

3.I would use the funniest moment because , as Kyrese stated, it would get the reader hooked and make them want to keep watching.
