A reaping is an annual event that takes place in every district before each Hunger Games, where the tributes of the upcoming Games are chosen.
Each district's escort randomly chooses the name of one male and one female tribute from two separate glass balls. Those picked are then the official tributes for the upcoming Games. To be qualified for a reaping, one must be twelve years old. Each age group is contained in roped-off areas in the town square, waiting for someone to be picked. The reapings take place at different times in different districts, so that Capitol citizens can watch them all live on television. Many members of the public, who show little to no sympathy for the potential tributes, often place bets on who will be chosen. Unless someone is already on their deathbed, they receive the death penalty for not attending their district's reaping.

Description of the moment:
Beth walked to the sqaure, attendance was mandatory unless you're actually dying. She was wearing one of her mother's old dresses, her hair tied up in a messy bun The camera crew are all over the place, of course, the rest of Panem will be watching this later on the day, and the Capitol people in live, cause they don't have to attend any reaping. She signed in and glanced around to see if she could reach any of her siblings, she saw one of her brothers walking to line up and she swallowed hard hoping he didn't got picked. None of her siblings had signed up for any tessera, instead she took all of it and her name was now 45 times in that bowl, the odds weren't on her favor. Around the perimeter she saw her dad and gave him a reassuring smile, as saying 'everything is going to be just fine'. The place is getting way to crowded, the square is big, but not enough to hold the about eight thousand district twelve population. She was now standing in a crowd of sixteen year old girl, she knew some of them from the Seam and others from school, but of course none of them talked, everyone was just praying for their names not getting picked up. The poduim holds the two glass balls and some chairs. In one of them was sitting the mayor and near him this year escort then the mentor Shae Carter. When the clock reached the time the mayor stepped on the podium and told the same story of every year, Panem and the start of the Hunger Games, he then presents the escrot and after a quick speech he steped to the girl's ball and digging a little he took out a little paper. The crowd was silent, you couldn't even hear a breathe, he opened the paper and readed the name in a clear voice, even if Bethany's name wasn't on that one, it could be in the next one anyways. But of course, her name was on that one “Bethany Thompson”. What about the stupid 'may the odds be ever in your favor' she thought. All the eyes were now turned towards her, she could hear he little sister crying near her dad, she just concentrated in not crying herself and steped on the podium, when the escort asked if there was any volonteer the crowd went even more silent, of course, no one wants to volonteer and go straight on a death sentence she kept her head up, stood straight and waited for the other three names to been taking out and hoping that it wasn't none of the people she knew.

Bekah District: 2
Full Name: Ajax Hew
Clothes:

Description of the moment:
AJ waited impatiently for the escort to reach the bowl. When the name was finally read, she wasn't even listening. She pushed forward confidently and exclaimed, "I volunteer as tribute!" She ignored the mean whispers of her female classmates behind her and went to the stage. Her brother and father beamed at her from the crowd. She smiled back. She was going to win this. And nothing was going to stop her.

Emma District: 4
Full Name: Akila Trenches
Clothes:

Description of the moment: Akila waited in the square, her feet cramping in her heels. She couldn't wait for this to be over, to just go home. She turned her attention to the stage and waited for the name to be called. She heard her own and looked around in horror as the people around her stepped away. She stumbled to the stage in somewhat of a daze and did her best not to cry, looking at her brother and family.

Emma District: 10
Full Name: Lucille Alicia Waters
Clothes:

Lucy's nicest clothes are ones she has worn to the reapings for the past four years. They are now too small, and extremely uncomfortable.
Description of the moment:
Lucy waited near the back of her designated age group, staring up at the sky and trying to zone out while ignoring everyone around her and the tightness of her only nice clothes. She was in her everyday sneakers because she simply couldn't force her feet into her old pair of flats anymore, and had given the shoes off to someone else. And then her name was called- ladies first, as always. There seemed to be some brief confusion in the crowd until a girl near Lucy pushed her forwards and she stumbled up to the stage, head down. She didn't look up at the cameras, or at the male tribute when he walked up to the stage. She recognized the name, however she had never met the guy. Her thoughts drifting, she thought of impending death and how horrible it was that she had no one to say goodbye to. On the bright side, at least no one would be effected by her death. And maybe she'd see her family in heaven- if there was a heaven.

Bree Name:Casper Bewley
District: 2
Appearance:

The Moment:
"District 2 children are raised with a warrior mindset in preparation for becoming Peacekeepers. They are typically Career Tributes, some of whom volunteer to participate, as winning is a great honor in Career Districts. They tend to be strong and brutal."

Casper knew that he was going to be one of those people who was going to the games. In fact, he wanted to go. When the reaping took place, and someone's else was called, Casper volunteered. He didn't particularly know the person who was called on, but he would've done anything to get into the games. He's wanted to showcase his abilities for a long time, and he's wanted to give his parents a reason to finally decide that he was an idiot and that he was cocky. Casper strode onto the stage awaiting the next tribute to be selected, then he met the gaze of his parents. His parents weren't worried looking, nor did they look proud- they looked sad. Casper's expression hardened at this then he looked away from them ignoring their concern laid before him.

Bree Name: Mason Collins
District: 9
Appearance:
Clothing:

The Moment:
Mason stood among the crowd of other guys who were afraid that their name would be drawn for the Hunger Games. This was Mason's last year of having his name put in the drawing since he was 18 and turning 19 soon, so he would be home free if he was good. He knew that his mother and sister were among the crowd of fearful onlookers and fellow family members of the group of kids here with Mason. Mason looked around trying to find his sister with his mother so he could show her that that there was nothing to be afraid of. "Mason Collins," was announced then Mason's heart stopped. No..it couldn't have really been his name called. He was good. "Oh come on up, child," said the announcer then several Peace Keepers 'Mason' out of the crowd of boys then Mason walked on stage and stood before the whole district. Now, he could see his sister and his mother. They looked grief stricken as if they were already deciding what flowers to lay over his grave when he died.

Bree Name: Paisley Fairchild
District: 11
Appearance:

Clothing:

The Moment:
Paisley had made it through one reaping before, and she was keeping her fingers crossed that this year was no different. Her sister, last year, promised to keep her safe since her sister was eighteen last year, but this year since she was nineteen, her sister couldn't save her. Paisley stood among the group of girls playing with the hem of her dress nervously while beads of cold sweat formed on the back of her neck. Time slowed down when the Escort from district eleven drew a name from the bowl of names then walked over to the microphone. "Paisley Fairchild," their voice boomed. Paisley was frozen in place for a moment when reality hit her that it was her name that was picked. The girls around her parted way for her whispering softly to one another, but loud enough for Paisley to hear, about how sorry they felt for her. Paisley walked up to the stage hoping that someone would step forward for her, but no one did. Paisley stood up on stage beside the escort, then to her right where the families were, she saw her sister with her hand over her mouth, and tears streaming down from her eyes. Paisley could hear her sister's despair from all the over here.
