Romica | 3 comments I'm trying to track down the name of a childrens novel which I think I read in 1988-89. Not a picture book.

I dont remember much of the plot, but I know it involved a dancer who was being helped by a mouse/some mice and they were on a quest to find something, possibly a gemstone. I vaguely remember it being a blue gemstone of magical power.

I don't know when it was published, but definitely prior to 1990. Can anyone help with what this book was? It's been frustating me on and off for years!

Tab (tabbrown) | 5084 comments Romica, do you remember anything about the setting? Was it set in a mythical land or realistic land? Contemporary setting or historical? Anything about the cover?

Romica | 3 comments Unfortunately I dont remember anything about the cover. But I think the story was set in the real 20th century world (maybe London), although mystical/magical things happened within it (such as talking mice).

The dancer was definitely a woman. And they were on some sort of a quest to find some mystical object which I remember as a gemstone. I have a feeling the book had a follow on part 2 or was part of a trilogy, because not all the loose ends were tied up by the end.

I can't remember much else!
