She follows after him slightly confused, what she supposed to stay here? Her eyes go straight to Declan and she frowns, how could he know about her? He couldn't obviously. That was impossible, she'd taken such care to hide, and stay hidden for so long.

Vance looks at Declan. "Go. Get ready." he said, then turning to Katherine. "You ready to impress me?" Vance said, smiling a little.
Declan nodded and ducked into a tent. Putting on armor, and getting a sword. He came back out and stood beside Vance.

Katherine nods, "Whatever it takes, my lord" she says smiling slightly she looks over at Declan who comes in with his armor ready. "Shall i use my own weapons?" she asks curiously. She didn't want to have to use her royal daggers, or her carved bow. Nobody would suspect anything, but she didn't feel comfortable getting it out just yet.
Vance looks at her for a moment. "Yes." he said simply. "Swords, only." Vance said. He walked away to the other side of the fighting field. "Get ready, young one." Vance called to her
Katherine quickly takes out one of her swords. This one was her Father's, but it didn't have any etchings on it, whereas her own and various recognizable ones. She takes out the rest of her weapons and places them away from the battle. She didn't want them to get in her way. While Declan was wearing armor, she was not, she takes a deep breath and nods at the king.
Vance gives a flick of his pointer and middle finger. Watching her carefully. She would have to get used to armor. Only this would he allow an exception. Vance puts his hands behind his back again. Pacing slowly along the sideline.
Declan smiles and walks past her, sliding his sword into his sheath and taking a stance. He was standing in one spot, arms crossed. Expression blank, doing absolutely nothing. As if he wasn't about to fight. Declan kept his hand away from the hilt of his sword. He knew it was he weakness. Showing when he was going to reach for his sword, making him a free target.

Katherine unsheathes her magnificent sword and steps back, staying away from Declan. She didn't want to be taken by surprise. She watched her carefully, he was going to take his sword suddenly and attack she kept herself ready. "Ready?" she asked tilting her head, she didn't want to attack without him being ready and offend the king.
Vance watches her with interest. None had done that before. He pursed his lips and stood still. Mirroring his son's stance. Head high, shoulders squared, back straight, and arms crossed.
Declan gave a slightly shrug. Staying where he was. He was going to have to coax her into making the first move. He noticed how she stayed a good distance from him to avoid being jumped. Since this wasn't real there was no time limit, therefore, he could stay still until she either gave up or made the move.

She frowned at him and his tactic. He was trying to lure her into making the first move so he could ambush her, and win she shook her head and smiled she wasn't going to give in. She started pacing slowly, keeping her eyes trained on him like a hawk. Inching closer to him, and away never close enough so she would get struck. She tease him into trying to hit her, and would use that momentum to attack.
Declan's hand itched towards the hilt of his sword but he didn't grab it. Declan lightly gripped his own arm as he watched her. "Come on." Declan said. "I'm getting bored."
"So I am, my Lord" she says smirking getting really close this one time but jumping away as quickly as she came. Her sword stays stills waiting for any attack, ready to parry it away. She would't not couldn't let him win this.
Declan smiled. A plan forming in his mind. Declan pulled out his sword and rushed her, making the first move. Typically that's a bad idea, but in this case its exactly what he wanted. He took a.swing for her left thigh.
Vance narrowed his eyes on his son. This wasn't usual for him. He never rushed, and more importantly, never made the first move. What exactly was he planning on doing?

Xandra laughed and parried his move, jumping to the right she thrust her sword out to his left shoulder. She didn't know what he was doing,k but she'd expected this. This was fun. This would be a good battle, she thought as she swirled and jumped back.
Declan twisted to the side and bent slightly, avoiding the hit. He smiled to himself, rushing her again, taking a swing for her calve this time. If he could get her to...then he'd be golden.
She jumped over his sword, and swirled her sword going in an perfect arc to his shoulder hoping she'd hit it. Then doing a backward somersault landing back in front of him. She smiled at him sweetly.
Declan cursed, feigning the hit. Hoping she fall for it. If not, no biggie. It wouldn't ruin his plan in anyway. He could do this all day.
((( Last one. =) Night)))She jumped back and smirked. She was going to kill him, he was annoying her. She slid down, and did a double cross to both his calves. She slid out from under him jumping away and turning back so he couldn't do a surprise hit.
Declan jumped to the side. Her sword catching the side of his left thigh. He gritted his teeth, spinning around, feeling the blood slide down his leg. Well, at least he didn't have to fake the injury. Declan came up to her slowly, as if it made him slower. It didn't, the wound just hurt a whole hell of a lot.
"Sorry" she mutters keeping her eyes on him, and moving further away. She was planning to wait till he came near enough, then un-sword him. She'd win then, she'd have to. She felt a small smile tugging at her mouth, she's have beaten the Prince himself while the king watched. Maybe that'd teach them both a lesson, it didn't matter whether she was female or not. She was stronger than his son.
Declan took a step forwards for everyone she took backwards. Declan then ran forward. He faked coming straight at her but instead veered to the right. Declan had noticed how the grip on her sword was always tight but left her with a weak point. The tip of her sword. He slammed down the center of his sword onto the tip of hers. Making it fall out her grip, he swung out a leg and knocked her over. Once she was on the ground he pointed the sword at her heart. "I win." he said.
She twisted around, and jumped back up diving and rolling getting her sword she sprang up with her sword pointed. "Not yet" she muttered. "You only win, as long as I can't move without being impaled" she pointed out angrily. And moved in she send a sharp thrust for his shoulder not fully cutting it, but feeling the satisfying sound of tearing armor. She kicked out with foot straight for knee making him bend, then grabbed his sword as it fell, pointing her own at his throat. "No, I win" she says panting slightly.
Declan grunted as she pierced his armor then kicked his knees. Making him hit the ground, his sword falling out of his hand as he put his hands out to brace himself. He looked up at her as she pointed the sword to his neck. "Nicely done." Declan complemented.
Vance pursed his lips and walked out onto the field. Standing beside Declan, facing Katherine. He waved over a physician to help Declan with his thigh. He then looked at Katherine. "Well done, young one." he said. "You've got great swordsmanship. Just watch the way you hold your sword."

Katherine smiled down at him and backed away giving him room. "Thank you" she replied feeling slightly bad the cuts she gave him. "Sorry" she added quickly gesturing his wounds. She knew she shouldn't, it was his father that killed her entire family but she couldn't help it. She was always taught to this way. She turns and nods and the king and says the same thing, "Thank you my lord" for the advice and compliment though she hates saying it. She didn't ever want to thank him for anything, he wasn't doing her a favour. She was doing him one.
The physician helped Declan get up and walk into the same tent that he'd changed in. "Its not a big deal." Declan said as they walked into the tent.
Vance narrowed his eyes. "Anything you need? Water? A bed?" he asked politely. Folding his hands in front of him.

"Anything you think I'll need, My King" she says wondering if this was a trick question. She didn't want to end up saying anything she'd regret. She remembers to keep her eyes trained on him, as he'd first asked.
Vance sighed. "I cannot know what you need. If you need anything please tell me." he said.
She nods, "Where will I be staying?" she asks quickly wondering if there was a guards quarter and how she was going to sleep with guys safely.
Vance raised a brow in confusion. "Didn't Declan show you to the guard's quarters? If he didn't please say so." he said.
She wonders whether she should rat him out or not, "He didn't get time to, My King" she says she had to get on the Prince's good side if she was to get close to the royal family.
Vance nodded. "Then where did he take you when I told him to escort you to the quarters, hmm?" he asked Katherine.
He hadn't taken her anywhere? Had he? No she shakes her head she hadn't. "He- he didn't take me anywhere" she says slightly confused.
"Mm. So where is your stuff?" he asked her. "I know its not sitting in the Hall." Vance said, searching her eyes as he said so.
"I don't need much, my bag is currently staying with a friends, I just need to pick it up" she informs him forcing a smile. She couldn't let him get to her.
Vance nodded. "Then let me show you to your room." he said, turning around and walking off.
She smirks at his back and follows after him, her hands laced behind her back casually. She observed the castle as she walked on, it was beautiful even she could not deny that.
Vance led her through the halls. People bowing as he passed by, his black leather boots clomping against the castle floor.
Katherine walked as silently as possible, it was a force of habit. She thought of something to say, it was rather awkward and the tension between them for growing rapidly.
Vance turned rather abruptly on his heel and looked at her. His dark eyes narrowed as he scrutinizes her. There was something about her. He'd recognized those fighting moves. From where, he couldn't remember.
She frowns and moves her bangs in front of her face, and slouches. She didn't know what he was doing, or what he was thinking but she didn't want to risk it. "Yes, My Lord?" she asks making her voice higher pitched.
"Don't hide yourself, girl. Speak normally, stand up straight, and let me see your eyes." Vance said. "I will not accept falsehood into my guard." Vance told her, making more of a threat then pointing something out.
Katherine frowns and moves her bangs away she had eaten something that would hide her true eye color which was completely black with icy blue tendrils. "Yes my King" she says standing straighter and staring in him in the eye.
"Now, where we're you taught your swordsmanship? By whom?" Vance asked her slowly. "Do not lie to me." he said, narrowing his eyes as he looked at hers. Black?
"I was taught my one of the swordsman in this village north of here, he passed away in a battle" she replied staring at him and trying not to frown.
Her eye color was irritating him. Vance nodded slowly. "Mm hmm." he said. "Come this way, we must continue." he said, turning around and walking back down the hall to his destination.
She followed him quickly keeping up easily and keeping her eyes trained on him. (Sorry short reply)))
((It's okay.))
Vance walked her into the barracks and opened the door to her new room. "This is where you'll stay. No one will hurt you or invade your space, if so tell my son." he said as he watched her.

She nodded at him and smiled curtsying a little. "Thank you" she said heading into her room and waiting for him to leave so she could relax in peace.
"I will" she added thoughtfully.
Vance nodded and left.
((Gah. What should we do next?))
