Jennifer Does anyone know about the status of Emerald Green?

message 164: by Ingo (last edited Jul 20, 2016 12:53AM) (new) - rated it 3 stars

Ingo Emerald Green - Smaragdgrün started in Germany in the cinemas July 7th, 2016. DVD / Blu-ray can be pre-ordered, look at Amazon.De, no exact release date, just stating January 2017.
German reviews of the movie state that there are major changes from the book, as most of the story from the books was used in the second movie (? really?).

This discussion on Amazon.Com might shed more light regarding the feedback from the publisher and the studio for questions about an english dubbed / subbed DVD/Blu-ray.

Short version: so far there is no chance for a dubbed/subtitled english version (and legal) which can be bought, both for the second and third movie. The best you can hope for is a fansub/dub.

Ingo It's not out, if you cannot find it. Searched a bit myself, nope, no working link, only scams and trojan malware sites. Beware.
And the disclaimer:
it may not be legal, depending on where you are.

So far there is not even a release date set for the German DVD/Blu-ray, so that might be released year end (for X-Mas?) or even 2017, although it can be pre-ordered.

MARA B. Can anyone find smaragdgrün online? doesn't matter if it is in German or English.

Ingo Official release on DVD and Blu-ray in Germany at December 8th, 2016. Preordered it despite bad reviews at Amazon.De. They ship nearly everywhere, but it might be pricy. Also, the DVD might be Countrycode 2/Europe and the Blu-ray is surely locked Zone B (also Europe). The first 2 Blu-ray where locked, imho. For that reason you should have a multizone DVD-Player (they often are) or a switchable Blu-ray-Player (plus 50-100 $/Eur modification price). As stated, the German DVD and the German Blu-ray do not have english, neither sound nor subtitles, sadly.

Since the seizure of Kickass and the closing of torrentz it has been harder to find such things online, best bet might be Youtube, and then use a tool to download it, as it might be gone soon.
Also they might depend on a rip being available, and that might need the official release to rip first.

If you want to wait, I might view it as soon as I get it, within a week of December 8th (I live in Germany), and report here, so you do not waste your money, the reviews of the movie in theaters where saying as much bad about it, that basically the first 2 movies covered all 3 books, with some things changed (no sister!) and the third is supposed to be not worth watching.

Ingo Emerald Green (Smaragdgrün) on Blu-ray arrived today in my mailbox, as I live in Germany and had this pre-ordered, this was no real surprise.
As I had not checked the info on Amazon for some time, I was surprised and am proud to tell you:
there are (optional) English Subtitles. This is certain for the Blu-ray, I just played a few minutes. And now Amazon.de shows English Subtitles for the DVD, too.
Also, if you know a little German or want to check what you understood, there are German subtitles.

Still miffed, that no English dub is available, and this does not help for the second Movie which has no English at all.

Currently both the DVD and the Blu-ray are reasonably priced, cannot say how much shipping will cost to your countries, so be sure to check it. And customs may want a share, too.

Also, the Blu-ray is supposed to be Zone B (Europe), so you may need a Zone-switchable Blu-ray - guess the same might be true for the DVD, there are still DVD-Player which are locked to your country (in the USA: 1 for DVD, A for Blu-ray), often the middle to high-end ones. If you are not sure, be sure to check that before spending money.

Stéphanie Is it any good?

I live in the Netherlands, so it won't be too hard for me to get a hold on it.

message 170: by Brooke (new) - rated it 5 stars

Brooke I noticed today that amazon.de included the entire DVD set (all three movies) and said there are English and German subtitles. I ordered mine today to be sent to the U.S. so here's hoping all three movies have English subtitles like promised! :-)

Puck yes all the books are german movies. But I have found the english version of the first movie on youtube.

message 177: by Brooke (new) - rated it 5 stars

Brooke Okay, update! The 3 disc set includes Ruby Red and Emerald Green with english subtitles. Sadly, no Eng subs for Saphirblau. :-(

message 178: by Tiina (new)

Tiina Does anyone know where to watch Emerald Green?

Corinna Yes, they made from all of the books a movie here in Germany.
It is okay but not so good that I would commend them.

Kerry Lambert If anyone is still looking for the movie with English subtitles, here is a link for that http://putlocker.ac/watch-saphirblau-...

Kerry Lambert A little note to my previous comment, having now watched a little of the movie, I should mention that the subtitles are not the best. They're structured kind of as if someone threw the script through Google Translate. Despite this, you can get the gist of what is being said, I just felt I should point this out.
