He looked down at her," I would never be able to." He promised her
She nodded, "I want out of here but I don't want you or anyone to be hurt."
He hugged her gently," I know baby I'll get you out if here. Soon."
She cried into his shoulder and whispered, "Nick, there's something I need to tell you...I found out the other day..."
He gently rubbed her back as she cried. He looked over at her and gently kissed her cheek," What is it, Stacey?" He asked softly
"I went to the doctor because I'd been having weird pains in places Carl rarely hit...I have cancer, Nick. They aren't sure how serious but I have cancer..."

He looked at her speechless for a moment before he said," They are sure?" He asked softly. Now he really needed to get her away from her brother," What are they going to do to help you?" He asked not realizing his grip on her had tightened
It hurt but she nodded, "Their sure. I...I have kemo therapy once a month starting in two weeks...I'm trying to schedule them in the mornings because Carl would never let me go. It hurts a lot...What if I don't have time?"
"We will just have to figure something out honey. I'll help you whenever you need it." He said releasing her a little seeing that he was hurting her
She cried into his shoulder, "I'm scared of leaving you. I'm scared."
"Calm down.. Don't worry about the future we'll just take it day by day. I know your scared I am too." He said rubbing her back
She sniffled, "I'm sorry I'm scaring you. I'm so so sorry..."
"Hey it's fine.. I just want you to be alright."
" well get you better and get you away from here."
She looked at the time, "You should go. Carl might come home soon."
He nodded,"Alright I'll be back later alright?"
"No. If I can I'll come out. Carl will FREAK OUT if you have the nerve to come in here again. He might kill you."
"Hey hey calm down.. I won't come back but come to our spot if you can later." He said
She nodded, "I'll be there if I'm able to walk out there."
"Alright if not its alright just be careful.@
"I'll see you later." He said softly leaning down to kiss her

He kissed her again softly then pulled away," I should go before Carl sees me with you."
She nodded, agreeing, "Go out the back door. Just in case he's already coming."
He nodded, "Alright I will.... Be careful please." he said softly
He kissed her cheek quickly before limping to the back door
He turned to her and gave her a crooked smile," it's fine I'd rather him knife me than you."
"I'd rather the other way around."
"You can say that but i still would rather it not." He said walking slowly out the door
" see you Stacey." He said closing the door
Minutes later Carl came in wondering why she hadn't made him lunch yet.
Nick made his way slowly to his house. His leg hurt but he wasn't going to let Stacey know she had enough to worry about at the moment
Carl yelled and screamed and she cooperated in silence, too tired to talk or cry.
Nick walked into his house and was greeted by his grandmother who shook her head and pushed him into a chair and cleaned up his leg. She asked no questions just kept shaking her head
She had a rough night. Almost as bad as the night before but around 10 she managed to limp out to there spot, supporting herself on a stick.
Nick had slipped out of the house after his grandma fell asleep. He limped slowly to their spot
She collapsed on the ground silently.
Nick looked around and spotted Stacey on the ground. He hurried over to her and gently picked her up.
She smiled, "Hey..." She was super tired from everything, but he always managed to make her smile, "How are you?"
