She nodded, "I just finished, you want to borrow it?"

She handed it to him, smiling.
He smiled taking it from her," Thanks."
"Were you alright this morning when you left?"
She nodded, "Made up a story about hiding in the attic all night. He bought it.
He nodded a little bit,"alright...... I just don't like it when you go back home." He said wrapping his arm around her shoulder
She leaned into him, "I don't like it either, but I don't want him hurting you."
"He won't hurt me..... And if he did I'd rather it be me than you." He said softly resting his cheek on her head
"What about your grandmother? He doesn't have limits.
He frowned," he would really go after her?"
"Possibly. Like I said. He's a monster. I'd rather me than either of you."
"He doesn't know that she's my grandmother... And I still don't like it."
"He knows you and that I like the woods. He'd track you guys down."
"He doesn't know anything about me........ So how does he know that your even still seeing me?"
"He knows your face and if I knew I was seeing you he might kill me. But he'd make the connection. Your the only friend I've had since my dad died. Everyone else has left."
He looked at her for a while," You are a strong girl Stacey. And I'm glad I'm your friend." He answered what he didn't tell her is that he wanted more than friendship with her.
She had thought that they were more than friends. It had never been official but it still stung. She looked down, "Me too."
He tightened his arm around her," Can I ask you something, Stacey." He said softly. He knew he wanted more but didn't know if she did with how her brother used her. It had taken him a while just to be able to hug her.
He looked over at her," I was wondering.... Would you be my girlfriend?" He asked softly
She blushed and confessed, "I had kinda assumed I alreaddy was..."
He smiled," Well I was thinking the same thing, but I figured I should ask."
She smiled, leaning into him.
He hugged her a bit resting his head against her
She smiled, "Thank you for caring about me."
He smiled back at her," I don't think I could help it."
He chuckled softly at her blushing
"You know your cute when you blush."
"Yes I would lie to you." He said softly
She laughed, "I know you wouldn't."
He laughed," good you know that."'
She asked, "do you want to go swimming."
She blushed, "I don't have a swimsuit so it's just be me in my underthings, is that alright?"
He nodded a little," Ah yeah that's fine." He said after a minute
She stood up, "I know a place."
He got up with her," Alright lead the way honey."
She led him in a new direction.
They came to a beautiful lake.
He smiled," How did you find this?"
