Hello, everyone! I am still fairly new to Goodreads. I am the author of the Christian novel, "The Clown: One Who Rises From His Fall." I can give more details in the author's folder. I'm glad to be part of the group and look forward to participating! Thank you and God bless.Luis Angel Duperon
Hello all, I am UrumPen (Mathew Philip),60yrs from India and new to GR as well to social media.
My purpose is to spearhead a new awakening to the Christian masses which I found out from the Bible. The truths that eluded us for twenty centuries.
I titled the manuscript "Gospel of the Pierced Soul" and the first scholarly review from, a never met, world renowned theologian humbled me to the dust and I quote: " your book reminds me of poetic homilies in the style of St Gregory, and the theological points are quite valid and uniquely expressed".
The review makes me more responsible to the cause because this book deals in perhaps hundreds of new exposures that are not understood in the conventional beliefs.
I earnestly desire that the christian masses must know the truth at the earliest.
I am all the more glad to to offer a PDF file of the document to anyone who may wish to know the substance.
Please sent in a note at meterthou@gmail.com and I oblige.
Further, I am open to any questions/clarifications if any, regarding the book and the doctrine.Peace to all
Hi all,I'm a married father of 3 (7, 5, 3 year olds). One of the things I wanted to do was write books that would help kids keep strong in their faith when they get older (and give them a fun read too). I've written The Lost Treasure of Persia, and The Copper Map. Both of these books are rated as 'excellent' on the Christian Children's Book Review blog and are in their Top Picks section. Feel free to have a look :-)

Blessings to each of you in this group! My name is Linda from Wichita, KS. I was saved at the age of 12, but have developed a real love for Jesus through the years with mentors the Lord has sent into my life and was born into a very loving family and extended families. I am a mother of 2 daughters, (and my son E.J. in Heaven), five granddaughters and one great grandson. I love my family and they are very important to me. I especially love Bible studies, to meet new Christian women and develop friendships and trust to care and pray for each other. I lost my companion of 10 years on Valentine's Day this year and have been busy moving (I am still moving and downsizing!) and doing estate business. I have an awesome support group of Christian women who have sorted, packed, moved me and conducted my garage sale! I am richly blessed and deeply loved by my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I look forward to making new friends with this group! Blessings to you all!!
Hello, everyone! I'm a little hesitant to post my real name on sites, so I shall just go by Lynn if that is okay with everyone. I am a female, 57 years old, married, with a grown child. I was saved when I was 13 or 14 years old, and I have never doubted my salvation. The Lord has been gracious to me, and I have learned a lot the past few years while struggling with health problems: His grace has been more than sufficient for me! I love the Lord with all my heart, and for the past year have been in a learning curve with the Lord peeling back the layers of this old onion, one by one, and showing me areas in my life that need to be changed, improved upon, or deleted from my life for lack of the right word. My health problems prohibit me from attending church, and living in such a rural area, I am alone much of the time since others are still working. I probably cannot be very active in this group as my husband and I are working on our house and I am doing the running for the supplies and materials; but hopefully that will soon change. Thank you for having me, and may the Lord bless each and every one. BTW, James 3:2 has been the verse the Lord has placed upon my heart lately.

Hi!I just found you all tonight, and I am very intrigued with your group name, "Real Christian." I am reminded of a passage from the last book of the Old Testament that is very indicative of the days in which we are living.
Malachi 3:15-18 "And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.
Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before Him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon His name.
And they shall be Mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up My jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth Him not."
I was once of the opinion that when someone said they were a Christian, that I believed them. But I learned the hard way that not everyone who names the name of Christ are "real" Christians. So, I really appreciate your title...
This is such a busy life, but I hope to be able to visit periodically, the Lord willing...
Take care and God bless!

Welcome, Felicity :) I have to say that I disagree with your statement that we can't know that we are saved. I don't mean to argue either but I just don't believe that it's true. Christ died for all our sins, past sins, present sins, and future sins. When you accept Christ as your Savior you acknowledge that it was His sacrifice that has made you right before God. Since nothing we can do can save us, then nothing we do (no sin) can make us not saved. We can know that we are saved.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast.
John 1:9
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness
(Sorry, for the long passage but the context is necessary.)
Romans 8:1-17
Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, 2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you[a] free from the law of sin and death. 3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh,[b] God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering.[c] And so he condemned sin in the flesh, 4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires. 6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. 8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ. 10 But if Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life[d] because of righteousness. 11 And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[e] his Spirit who lives in you.
12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation—but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.
14 For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship.[f] And by him we cry, “Abba,[g] Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.
First, let me point out that half of the disagreements we have on what the Bible says happens because we use different translations. For example, the verse you quoted Felicity is different in the translation I use which is KJV:1 Corinthians 1:18
“For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.”
That version uses the words "are saved" and not "are being saved". There's a huge difference. Also, because I believe that God is the one who saved me I also believe that when He saved me He saved me for eternity, He would also have to be the one to un-save me and that would make Him inconsistent. I can't save or un-save myself.
Of course, this is just my conviction, and I don’t mean step on you. Let me know if I'm ever being offensive!
Hi! My name is Samantha. I am a Christian. I am currently studying to become a teacher. I love to read and learn as well as teach. I may not be available all the time, but you may see me pop in and out on occasion :)
Hello Felicity,I don't understand your concern about using the term "saved". Paul, in Ephesians 2:8 talks about being "saved" (by grace), so I would suggest the term to explain salvation is not inappropriate.
Your thoughts?

But I believe that we are saved, saved from the wrath of God and the punishment of eternity separated from God. Salvation is about getting your heart right before and so much more, but I don't see why you would consider the term used incorrectly. The whole idea of an all knowing God can be unsettling to unbelievers. I believe the phrase "born again" can be harder to understand for unbelievers than when you say that you are "saved." At least that's how I see it.
