That's ok with me Kimberly, but I'll check with Zara since she's the one who reports the updates for the team

Tonya Is it too late to join this? I'm rather new to the group and still trying to sort everything out. I can easily handle a page number goal! Thanks!

It's absolutely not too late to join! How many pages do you want as your goal?

Kimberly this is perfectly fine. In fact I prefer that method as it keeps everything together and makes it easier for me. lol

Hi Tonya. I'll add you to the s/sheet and when you've worked out how many pages you think you'll read between now and the 19th (don't forget any books you read on the 4th or finished on the 4th count - *please correct me if I'm wrong anyone*).

Cathy Galloway I will aim for 1000 pages.

The Bridgertons: Happily Ever After by Julia Quinn 384 pgs
Burn by Maya Banks 353 pgs
No Man's Mistress by Mary Balogh 358 pgs
Crocodile on the Sandbank by Elizabeth Peters 262 pgs
Elephants Can Remember by Agatha Christie 198 pgs
Coming Up Roses by Catherine Anderson 432 pp
The High King by Lloyd Alexander 253 pp

Total: 2240

At this rate, I should probably increase my goal to 1500.

Kimberly (poweki) Zara wrote: "don't forget any books you read on the 4th or finished on the 4th count"

I started The Third Option on 1 October and finished it on the 4th... I had not counted it for the challenge but perhaps I should have? I'll leave it for you Mods to decide.

(By the way, I, for one, am thrilled that more people from our group are joining in! I want to get our group on the charts - I'm trying as hard as I can.)

: )

message 17: by maria helena (new)

maria helena (mariahel) I think you can count any pages read from when the read-a-thon started, even if you started the book earlier.

message 18: by Zara's Retreat (new)

Zara's Retreat I agree with you Kimberly re getting our group on the charts. You are indeed trying very hard which is very much appreciated.

I believe that as long as the book is finished on the 4th or later then it counts. Does that help?

I'm thrilled that more people are joining. Leonie has also asked to join now. Awesome everybody. Thank you.

Any book you finished after the start of the R-a-T, you may use in the Book Hunt (Event #2), even if you started in April! However, you may only count the pages you actually read out of the book during the R-a-T for Read Like a Banshee (Event #1).

message 21: by Tonya (new)

Tonya I updated message #12 with my previous 2 days of reading :)

message 22: by Kimberly (new)

Kimberly (poweki) I just re-read the rules of the challenge...

Am I right that, because the "winner" of Event #1 is based on a ratio, we would have been better off if we'd all estimated that we'd read 20 pages, knowing full well that we'd read more?

If so, I'm sorry. I should've said I'd read 100 pages.

:(

In any case, I've exceeded my 1000-page goal already and I'll keep reading as much as I can.

Our individual goals don't actually matter - other than for ourself...

The team with the highest ratio of total pages read to year book goal wins.

7 members of our team are participating, and together our yearly goal is 915 books, so we will be dividing our total number of pages read by that.

The ratio seems a bit weird, but it is to be able to compare teams (otherwise a team with few participating members that all are "slow" readers would have no chance against a team where many members that are all "fast" readers participate). This kind of evens things out.

You don't have to finish the book for it to count, just record how many pages you read during the read-a-thon

Moderators of NBRC | 1212 comments Mod
Tina, if you are not using the book in Event #2 (Book Hunt), and don't finish it, you may still count the pages read for Event #1 (Read Like a Banshee). If you count the books separately, and they do NOT meet the page count qualifications, then the pages you read will NOT count. Best to keep it as a bundle.
