Finished: I enjoyed the read but the grammatical errors set my teeth on edge. And to think it was written by an English teacher. My favorite story was No Rest for the Spirit because I have an innate fear of being buried alive. Since the book is geared towards a middle school level audience there wasn't any overt scares, but I played with some of the stories in my imagination and I'm quite good at scaring myself. So as frightening fodder, I liked this read!!!!If anyone would like, I can mail them my copy of the book.
I got mine for 99 cents on amazon. I agree that it reads like the self published, self edited work that it is. While the stories are fun and it's a quick read, they are kind of trite and hackneyed, but they've put me in the mood for more ghost stories! I'm only half way through so I will have more! And then I'll seek out a few more collections.
Okay - I finished all the stories. I did sort of find them, as a pretentious friend would say, "slight," but it's always fun to read a ghost story. What it did was totally whet my appetite for some good, classic ghost stories. I have a collection of Conan Doyle stories and Muriel Spark ghost stories. If any of you know of any other good collections, let me know!
