I'm reading City of Bones the first of the Mortal Instruments series, I'm over 200 pages in but I'm bored and it seems to be moving really slow. Should I continue reading? Does it get better? Does it speed up?

Oh keep reading!!! It gets soooo much better!!! Especially if you continue the series
I read them all but to be honest I didn't love them, the writing is poor and the books actual story could be split over 2 or 3 books max.
Yeah I agree with you on there being less books but I liked them.
They're good books, but also the Infernal Devices series is better in my opinion, and the Mortal Instruments explains some things that may be harder to understand in the prequel series. TMI does get better though :)

I agree with pretty much all of the above comments. I liked the series, but I thought it could have been better written and shorter. I am not sure why Infernal Devices is better, maybe characters?
Okay I'll read more and see if I get into it but if I still don't like it by page 300 I'm giving up!

I made it to page 250 and it's getting better!
I gave up after the first book...
I wasn't that into City of Bones, but I have this compulsion to continue a series because it would make me crazy not to know what happens. Glad I stuck with it, I finished the next two pretty quickly and I think they got much better than the first.
The infernal devices just seems more organic. I don't know maybe the action and characters are better?
I'm enjoying the second book!
