I didn't buy these books but they were bought for me for Christmas and I'm pretty excited about it:
Daughter of the Blood
Raven's Shadow
Parasite
The Shotgun Arcana
Shattered

I really liked Six Gun Tarot, I haven't gotten to Shotgun Arcana. Sounds like you did well, Hybrid.

I've yet to get home and check my mail to see if my secret Santa book has arrived.
My wife got me the book Horns by Joe Hill for Xmas. A little bit outside of my usual but sounds interesting. She has wanted to watch the movie and likes when if read the book first before the movie/TV show so that I can answer any questions she has about it :p. It will be my first read of the new year.

Bossypants for Christmas as I specifically asked for it, but no other books. Family have long since given up buying me books because they don't know if I already have it/have read it, etc. I don't mind - instead I just get money so I can choose my own books ;)

I usually get gift cards to book stores too, but this year my husband told me to give him a list of 10 books I wanted. So I gave him a list of 20 instead so I didn't know what I was getting. ;)

And then I'm incredibly guilty of buying myself some gifts..
(Sorry for the long post, it's hard to contain my excitement!)

All of these books look great! It's so hard to choose what to read.
Lancer, I read Horns this year and really enjoyed it.
I'll do "bookshelf clearance" through the end of March, which means that I'll TRY not to buy new books until April 1 (unless it's a BotM) and read only what's currently on my bookshelves and ereaders. :)

Sounds like a good idea Shawnie. I might try something similar but exclude series I'm waiting on the next part
Agreed, Paul do you know any release dates? I don't really follow them to closely. It's wonderful that I have this group to remind me of these things!
I will do a big update early next week on this years releases. I'm quite excited by a few. Just need Pat Rothfuss and GRRM to get sorted to make it a huge year

I think I need to take a whole year to read what's on my shelf, including Kindle. I'll let myself get audiobooks from the library, though.

Picked up How to Build a Girl and a travel book about the US that I've already forgotten the name of and am too lazy to go downstairs and find out the title... :P
First book purchases of the New Year!
Heir to the Shadows
Written in Red
New to Anne Bishop but so far I'm loving her.

Hey Audrey, I hope The Death of Dulgath, in some small way, made your Christmas a good one. Oh, and I do love Holtst. - great stuff!

The Black Jewels series is very dark, Kimberly. I love grim-darks though. So I guess it entirely depends on your preferences.
The other series I haven't started yet so I'll have to get back to you on that one. :)

The Crown Tower
And from other authors -

And The Chessmen of Mars

Actually wasnt too bad . Less than 30 euro the lot.The John Carter was second hand 1930 edition but the rest were new but on special. Even the Robin Hobb as a hardback was 6 quid.

very limited selection so...
Prince of Fools
Skinwalker
Haven't bought any yet hut did receive 100$ worth of gift cards so will be going on a bit of a spree soon
My dilemma comes from the decision to either use them slowly to pick up new releases or just use it all at once to fill in series I know I want to continue but have yet to pick up the sequels and series I want to start. I am really interested in starting Peter V. Brett's Demon Cycle, Django Wexler's series, and Sebastian De Castell's Greatcoats. So it would be an opportunity to snap them all up and start a good to read pile eight off the bat
$100 worth? Amazing! Also I can't remember if you like ebooks but the entire Demon Cycle series has been really cheap for Kindle lately.
I do have an ereader but it is a kobo so not sure if that makes a difference, and I do have The Warded Man on it already hut have been considering getting the physical copy because I prefer them. But if Kindle and Kobo are the same thing I have no issues getting them for cheap :)
All of those series you mentioned Lancer are on my list too. So if you get to them before I do I expect a full report! :P
I've read the two Greatcoats books and highly recommend them. One of our quieter members is actually tuckerised in the second one in quite a big role. Plus De Castell is Canadian so you should support him Lancer.
MA'AM, YES MAAM!
Paul they are definitely near the top of my list. I was hoping to get to them in 2015 but ran out of time, so they will be early this year :)

I tried to buy the first Greatcoats book when I bought those other ones the other day. But the book store was completely wiped out in the fantasy section.
I tried to get King of Thorns but there absolutely no Mark Lawrence books left. (Obviously a good thing much to my dismay.)
I also tried to get Golden Son to finally catch up before Morningstar is released but that seems to elude bookstores everywhere here. I have just one left to try and I have a gift card there so fingers crossed.

Yeah I tried to get Emperor of Thorns but there was big empty gap where Marks books should be. I have lovely ltd editions of the two Greatcoat books. I love the cover art
Catching up on Mark Lawrence's stuff is also on my list for this year. Would likely have to re-read Prince of Thorns first though as it was quite a while ago, unless anyone thinks I could continue on and be OK. I do remember some of Prince of Thorns but it's been awhile.
I'd say you'd be fine. You just have to remember Jorg is a complete bastard and your grand.
Also worth looking at his other series, Prince of Fools is really good with quite a different protagonist .

I thought that it was a continuation of the original trilogy so I'm assuming I was mistaken.
Would you say to read the Thorns trilogy first?

If you want to continue with a series but can't remember what happened in the first book(s), The Recaptains is a great site, and a couple of our members are actually 'Recaptains'. Whilst it's predominantly YA titles, there's some SFF on there too. There must be a similar site (or even some Wiki articles might have detailed plots) for SFF books. I often do this when I don't feel like re-reading the first book.
Finally found Golden Son at that bookstore. I hated that bookstore but I finally got what I was looking for. I'm sure it will be worth the trouble. :)
Happy you found it Hybrid. I completely forgot earlier that I was going to say I would mail it to you to borrow if you couldn't find it. I am probably one of the closest to you and it would be no skin off my back. But you found it so that is much easier :p
