Sian Roullier (sianyrou) My review

At first I wasn't sure if I would like any of her books. But for an online Sarah Dessen book club I thought I'd give it a go. At first I wasn't sure and then after getting past chapter 4 the story started picking up and I couldn't put it down. I loved the character of Annabel and how strong she was while dealing with her family and friendship struggles. I also loved Owen and how nice of a friend and that he didn't judge, but help Annabel. I will definitely be picking up more of her books and can't wait to read the next in the book club

Isn't Owen awesome!
I also love the family dynamic in this novel! With Whitney and her struggles...loved reading about that!

Mickeey (mickeey4) i read just listen i think a week ago. its my second sarah dessen lock and key was my first and i didn't like it that much but i still wanted to try some more of her books so i read just listen and still i did not like it!!! it was much better than lock and key but i just felt like something missing in the story and i actually did not like the main character that much but i loved both of here sisters.

Bernadette Davis (godblessthenightowls) | 11 comments Just Listen is probably my third favorite book, after This Lullaby and Lock and Key. Owen was amazing and reminded me of my best guy friend. Annabel frustrated me a little because it took her so long to open up, but at the same time what she went though could cause anyway to react that way. Whitney was probably my favorite character because I feel like she went through the most development. She started out horribly rude and sarcastic, but after she went that therapist, whose name I can't remember, she just became amazing.

Kayla Apland | 1 comments that book was soo amazing and i love how it used characters from this lullaby! but i love all her books especiallt the truth about forever <3 - Amazing author!!!!

Samantha | 3 comments My motto is "Don't think, don't judge, just listen."
I also love the quote, "Silence is so...loud."-Owen

Samantha | 3 comments I read Just Listen 2 years ago. But I keep reading it over and over again. It's like my favorite book.
Actually I like Lock and Key and This Lullaby too. I can't decide which book is my favorite!!!!

Dearbhla (dearbhla_may) | 1 comments Just Listen was the very first Sarah Dessan book that I read, it is also one of my favourite books of all time (:

Tessabella76 | 3 comments I'm still waiting for it to be available at my library. But I'm so tempted to just buy it.

stephanie Rodriguez This is my 3rd Sarah Dessen book and this one by far has been the easiest one to get into.... Excited to see what happens!!!

Anna Christine (thebooknivore) | 7 comments I just finished it and i loved it. At first I was a little unsure and was always intrigued to what happened between Annabel and Clarke and Annabel and Sophie. I had an assumption that something along the lines of rape happened but I wasn't sure. I love Owen in this. I love that it's really a don't judge a book my the cover of him from the beginning on. But then you learn that he isn't bad at all he's sweet with an anger issue. I love the family parts as well. I love the fact of her sisters and mom and dad. I love idea of the glass house and how people would always slow down to look at it and how it's the whole from the outside it looks like a perfect family but in actuality it really isn't all too perfect but what is perfect really. This was an amazing read.

Adri (perpetualpages) I read Just Listen on the last week of October, so I'm waaaaaaaay behind on my book reviews. But I just posted my Just Listen review here: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Love seeing everyone's thoughts on the book! Can't wait to jump into This Lullaby later in the month :D

Loved your review Adriana!
This is one of my fave Sarah Dessen books as well! It does have a heavier theme but I quite enjoy it! Owen oh Owen you dreamboat!

message 23: by Adri (new) - rated it 4 stars

Adri (perpetualpages) Thanks, Heather :D

It's definitely one of my favorite books. I'm glad we reread it in my birthday month! Oh, Owen, if Annabel didn't have such a firm grip on his fictional heart, I would date him like yesterday

Stephanie Just finished 'Just Listen' recently. It was a good read and I really enjoyed it. Loved Rolly, Owen, Annabel and Whitney especially. I really related to the whole idea of music being an escape from reality and the obstacles in life because I like to listen to my iPod everywhere I go.
Before, I was convinced that I would not like any of Sarah Dessen's books but I find myself falling deeper and deeper into every book I read of hers. I cannot wait to read 'This Lullaby' soon!

Lexi (lexi-chan16) | 1 comments I really liked this book, but I think that using the f curse was unnessesary and the details of the almost rape too detailed. My mother didn't approve

Andressa | 1 comments This is one of my favorite books! I read it a quite some time, but I enjoyed very much, it's a beautiful story. :)

Genna Langford | 2 comments Lexi wrote: "I really liked this book, but I think that using the f curse was unnessesary and the details of the almost rape too detailed. My mother didn't approve"
Yes. I thought that was a bit far... But out of all the Sarah Dessen books I liked the love story between Owen and Annabel the best. They are so cute!

Katie Ciardullo (katieciardullo) | 3 comments This is actually the very first book I read for fun. I had a hard time learning to read so once I figured it out and didnt feel stupid or ashamed I was a slow reader I decided to read Just listen.
Naturally this book hold a REALLY special place for me because its the book that got my obsession and enjoyment of novels going.

Its not my favorite sarah dessen book but it my 3rd! Love it!!

Christy | 1 comments Just Listen is my favorite book by Dessen, I've read it so many times. Owen is awesome

Patricia (pattxoxo) I loved this book so much!
There's a great meaning behind this book, particularly about honesty. And I totally relate to it!
Not only that, Just Listen also dealt with other heavy issues such as assault and eating disorder, which are problems that's still relevant in today's world.
All in all, this is an awesome book! This is the second Sarah Dessen book that I read besides The Truth about Forever.
If I have to choose which one is my favorite, I think The Truth about Forever win by a tiny margin. Nevertheless, Just Listen is a close second and I can't wait to read her other books!
