SOLVED. Old Gods from another world/reality, closed portal/gate, [s]

I read a book that I believe was published in 2011. It deals with "supernatural" people who are the descendants of "gods" who came to earth through a type of portal or gate from another world.
This portal is now closed and humans have stopped believing in the old gods so their power is waining. One child from a group of gods (can run really fast/teleport) is able to reopen this portal and go back to their original world/dimension and thus become more powerful.
I know their should be a 2nd book soon but cant even remember the name or author of the first book.. so I am at a loss to figure it out.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
