message 1051: by Gabby (last edited Jan 02, 2015 09:09PM) (new)

Gabby (lifeataglance) | 9 comments Hey guys! I'm Gabby. I've always loved reading. I would hit a bookstore at least once a month every month, and leave with no less than 4 books, and I would borrow novels from my school library at least once a week! But, over the past couple of years I haven't been reading as much as I used to because I was way too busy with school.

Now, I'm in my last year of high school and i'm really eager to get back into it, so after years of searching for books and reviews on goodreads, I've finally decided to join and I couldn't be more excited.

I'm doing my first real reading challenge (2015 reading challenge of course) and I' glad I found this group. I've always stuck to YA fiction and fantasy, but I'm looking forward to expanding my palate. Great to meet you all :)

message 1074: by Nuri (new)

Nuri (guillan) | 34 comments Hi everyone! My name is Tim, and I'm Portuguese/Turkish. Currently living in Istanbul/Turkey, studying a Masters Degree in Economics. I live with my dogs(2) and cat. The other thing I enjoy in my free times, besides reading, is training my dogs for agility& fun.

I have always been a mood reader. I don't make plans, I read whatever I want depending on my mood(mostly fiction, more precisely literary fiction, however there are gems in every category/genre and I'm trying to be eclectic). But this group looks very nice so I couldn't resist joining in.

I'm not going to make a very detailed plan(I'm not going to pick a book for every single task) because I know I won't stick to it. Every book I read leads to a new reading path and I love that. I hope to read more non-fiction,more poetry, more books by women, more books by people of color in 2015. I'll do my best to have an excellent reading year in terms of quality and quantity.

I'm not very goodreads savvy(I'm a new member and unfortunately didn't keep track of my past readings), still trying to figure out how everything works.
And English is not my first language, it has always been a challenge to me to express my thoughts in English, but hope to be an active participant!

Good Luck everyone!

I wish you all good luck in 2015. :)

message 1078: by Abigail (new)

Abigail Kennedy | 7 comments Hi! I'm Abby. A friend posted a link to Popsugar's 2015 Reading Challenge on Facebook (http://www.popsugar.com/love/Reading-...), and I liked the idea so much I decided to join this group to help motivate me in reading beyond my default genres. Usually I read fantasy (big Mercedes Lackey fan), sci fi or mysteries. I spend an hour a day commuting, so I listen to a lot of audiobooks. I finished 57 books in 2014, so I'm going to aim for 60 in 2015.

Scott Ivlow (scottinwinterhaven) Hi Timothy, from what I read in your post you have very good English writing style. When posting a book to your page you do have lots of options as to how you want it listed. Don't let that get in your way when update your reading list.

Scott Ivlow (scottinwinterhaven) Pawal and Abigail Welcome to the goodreads reading challenge. Best wishes to accomplish your 2015 reading challenge.

message 1085: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Montgomery (mysm) | 6 comments Hi everyone, I'm Lorraine and I started my own book blog last May. I came across Goodreads and signed up but have only starting posting here in the last few months. I haven't had much of a chance to do more than post reviews of books I've read. Then the other day, I saw that ShellyRae from Book'd Out was joining the Goodreads Challenge so I signed up, too. I'm also doing the Book'd Out Challenge.
I've found this a bit confusing but I think I have a "thread" and I've finally figured out how to add to my "favourites" shelf so that will have to hold me for now. I'll try to add a couple of reviews this week and then see what else I can learn to do here. Cheers!
