Tabitha (tabithaplotke) | 9 comments Hi all. I'm a high school teacher, writer, reader, and avid napper. I'm joining this super late, I know - I hope that's okay! I've wanted to be a part of a book group but have never felt like I've had the time, but recently picked up The Rosie Project; I'm excited to have the chance to read at my own pace and have some fun conversations with people. Nice to meet you all.

Maja (majareads) Milocanovich ☕️ (majamilocanovich) Hi! :) I'm Maja, I'm 27 and I live in Croatia.. I recently joined my city library again after a long time, and I've been enjoying books more than ever! I discovered Murakami, who I feel in love with, and so now I'm trying to find books similiar to his.. My taste has really changed from what I used to like, so I'm reading as much as I can to discover more good authors.
Goodreads seemed like the perfect place! :) I'm glad I'm here!

message 560: by Brighid (new)

Brighid Moret | 4 comments Hi, I'm Brighid. I'm trying to find more time to read in the little time my toddler daughter and infant son afford me. Right now most of my reading is done between midnight and 7am when I'm up with my son (if I can keep my eyes open). I love well written books, although I don't tend to read things that would be considered romance.

message 561: by Natalia (new)

Natalia (taliacrocker) Hey all I'm new to the group my names Natalia! Im 22 years old and a motherr of one! My personal challenge this year is 100 books, I wouldn't really consider it a challenge I'm already almost up to forty lol. I love the fantasy romance type books, but I read everything. My favorite autor is Julie Garwood and Karen Marie moning. The fever series I've read four times I'm obsessed haha. Black dagger brotherhood, vampire academy, house of the night, cassandra clare, nora roberts, etc... Anyone with book series that's similar that you think I should checkout feel free to suggest always open to new books. :)

Hazel | 2 comments Hello everyone! I'm Hazel, 22 yrs. old. Actually, this is the first time I've a joined a book club and I'm so excited! I wasn't really an active reader before due to my busy work schedule & just read book 1-2 times/yr or worst, none at all. I really love to read novels. And this year will be a change, I hope. I'm planning to read 30 or more books for 2014. I'm not specific to any types of genre as long as it's interesting. Btw, I love Paulo Coelho's works. I've read mostly his works. :)

message 567: by Hazel (new)

message 574: by Aleta (last edited Mar 06, 2014 11:19AM) (new)

Aleta Hi there! :) I'm Aleta (don't judge lol, I had just noticed the Prince Valiant movie in the local store when choosing this username (and I did looove those graphic novels) :b) and I'm a student currently on sick leave. I'm finally at a point where I feel like my head has de-fuzzied enough for me to read, first time in years, so I have a lot of rading to catch up on lol :b
I thought I'd start slow with making myself read at least two books a month and joining a group here seems perfect for keeping track of it :)
You'll pretty much find me reading any kind of book except anything too dark or bloody lol :P I especially love reading the classics though :)

message 575: by Anita (new)

Anita Viccica - Toss (goodreadsnitareeny) | 3 comments Hi everyone! I'm Anita from NY. I LOVE to read, am open to most books especially if friends or anyone raves about them, but mostly romance, historical fiction and biographies are my favorite. I have to put a 2014 challenge up on here. Will be modest and go for 50 but if I read more, that would be awesome! :)

message 580: by B.A. (new)

B.A. Cairns (bacairns) | 1 comments Hello all!

My name's Becky, 23, and there's nothing I love more than reading and writing. Okay, that's a bit of a fib as my family and pets come first, but only just!

Chick-lits, thrillers and stories based on true events are my favourite, but I'm willing to give anything a read.

Interesting little facts about myself: I'm not your stereotypical woman as I prefer rugby to shopping. I'm not so much of a romantic as I thought I was and the constant man in my life (apart from my dad) is Colin Firth. He's a fantastic actor who happens to have the most amazing brown eyes I could happily stare into all day. And I can happily say he's so much better in person as I was afforded the opportunity to meet him five years ago. I also love everything regency, mainly that of Jane Austen. If only there was a time portal and I could go back for one day...

I'm very much looking forward to my time on here and meeting new members of similar/opposite minds. Like Darcy said, "...to all this she must yet add something more substantial, in the improvement of her mind by extensive reading."

Sorry about the long intro, I just get carried away! :)

message 581: by Meleena (new)

Meleena | 1 comments Hey there! I'm Meleena, and I'm new to the group as well, although I never participate in stuff like this until today. I'm interested in romance, YA novels and I love the Lunar Chronicles.

message 586: by Sylvia (last edited Mar 11, 2014 05:19PM) (new)

Sylvia Swann | 8 comments Hi I'm Sylvia, I'm in advertising and I currently live down south in the US. I like pretty heady books most of the time but I add something light to the mix occasionally. I just finished something I read 'just for fun', a book called "Live Alone and Like It" written by Vogue editor Marjorie Hillis in 1936. She was so funny. I'm currently reading Shakespeare's Hamlet for the first time. Also reading The Plot Whisperer, a book about writing by Martha Alderson and a couple of other things you can see on my profile page.

So glad Goodreads has the challenge to keep me reading on schedule (I would read all the time if I could). Very excited about the books I'm currently reading and the ones in my "to read" list too.

message 587: by Vernice (new)

Vernice (fictionfantastic) Hi! I'm Vernice and new to the group. I used to read CONSTANTLY until I started being able to afford other gadgets and since then my interests have spread far and wide. Reading has always been my first love though, and I feel that I need to get back to reading more than I do now. I also dabble in writing, so you're welcome to check my writing and give me some honest and constructive criticism here: https://www.goodreads.com/story/list/...

My name is Andria and I am 15 years old, I love to read a lot of young adult. Really only young adult. There is a lot of drama going on in my life and I am losing friends one by one. It sucks quite a lot so I go to books for my escape. I am in this group so I can hopefully make new friends, and meet new people who love to read as much as I do. :) <3

So far I have read 5 books, so I really need to step it up. I am always looking for new authors to read. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hello, Renee!
Reading that you like "mysteries and police crimes," I suggest Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil by John Berendt , which I read in January. Good book!

I havent read these next books, but they are on my to-read shelf. Maybe you find them interesting. as well:
The Devil's Gentleman Privilege, Poison, and the Trial That Ushered in the Twentieth Century by Harold Schechter , For the Thrill of It Leopold, Loeb, and the Murder That Shocked Chicago by Simon Baatz , The Murder of the Century The Gilded Age Crime that Scandalized a City and Sparked the Tabloid Wars by Paul Collins
They are all true crime stories, which are fascinating to me.

Hope this helps or at least inspires!
