Stephen (SSJR) | 8 comments This, in my opinion, isn't very good, but whatever:

Travis pulled up to the apartment building his sister Meaghan lived in with her husband and child. They lived in Los Angeles, which was a five hour drive away from Sacramento, where Travis lived. Travis grabbed his bags from the trunk of the car he called to pick him up, and walked into the main lobby after tipping the driver. The woman with red hair and bright green eyes greeted him with a smile like she usually did when he came. “Hello Mr. Ward,” she said with a blush.
“Hello Stacy,” Travis said in return. She let out a little laugh and started to act like she had work to do. She was the owner of the apartment building.
Travis Ward was six foot three inches tall, had dark blonde hair and green eyes. Women fawned over him a lot, but he never took advantage. He was twenty-three and still single, unlike most of his friends.
The elevator dinged and Travis stepped inside, he hit the button with a seven on it and the doors closed, he rode the elevator up to floor seven and got out. He walked down the familiar hallways to apartment 703.
He knocked.
A small woman with the same blonde hair as Travis opened the door, she beamed and hugged her younger brother tightly.
“Hey Travis,” she smiled wide, “I‘m glad you‘re here!” she motioned for Travis to come inside, which he did.
“Uncle Travis!” A small child yelled and came barreling down the hallway that led to the bedrooms. The small child hugged Travis as tight as a child could.
“Hey buddy!” Travis said back as his nephew Alexander hugged his leg. Alexander was five and very smart.
“I missed you!” Alexander said. Travis was his favorite uncle and he loved when he came over for visits.
“I missed you too buddy,” Travis smiled and ruffled his nephew’s blonde curly hair.
“Come on, I wanna show you something!” Alexander grabbed Travis by the bottom of his shirt and began pulling him towards the bedrooms. Travis followed his young nephew towards his bedroom with a laugh.
Alexander pushed the door open and pulled his uncle into the room. The small boy ran over to his bed and flattened himself onto the floor and reached under his bed. Alexander pulled out a long scarf. It was about six foot and multiple colors. Travis knew that scarf, it was an exact replica of the Fourth Doctor’s scarf from Doctor Who.
Travis and Meaghan grew up watching Doctor Who because their parents were obsessed, Travis smiled wide and watched his nephew try to put the scarf on but Alexander was eaten by it. “Need help buddy?”
Alexander shooed his uncle’s helping hand away and toppled over, he began to laugh. Travis joined in. Meaghan stood in the doorway and let out a slight giggle.
“Did you buy him this?” Travis said as he turned around to look at his sister.
She smiled and walked in, she untangled her son from the scarf’s claws, “It’s actually for you. It was supposed to be your birthday present, but Alexander wanted to give it to you when you first got here,” Meaghan handed the scarf over to Travis who then put it around his neck a few times and let it drop down to waist length. Travis beamed and squatted down to give his nephew a hug.
“Thank you, I love it,” Alexander stood up and gave his uncle the biggest hug ever.
Meaghan turned to head out of the room, “I’m going to go start dinner. What do you guys want?”
Travis let go of his nephew, “Whatever you feel like making.”
“Yeah, what Uncle Travis said,” Alexander said. Meaghan rolled her eyes playfully and went out to the kitchen.
Alexander rushed about his room showing Travis everything, most of the things Travis knew of. Alexander’s stuffed cow, that Travis bought him when he was born. Racecars, building blocks, puzzles, crayons and coloring books.
“Wow, that’s quite the collection,” Travis had the toys piled around him.
“I know! I have more if you want to-” Alexander was cut off by the sound of the front door closing. “Daddy!” Alexander took off in a clumsy sprint out of his room.
“Easy buddy!” Travis said loudly as he got up from the floor to follow his nephew.
Travis made it to the living room just as Alexander was being hoisted up by his father David. David stood at five foot eleven inches, he was seven inches taller than Meaghan. They made a cute couple. He had brunette hair and dark brown eyes.
“Hey David,” Travis said as he unraveled the scarf around his neck. David looked up and smiled at Travis.
“Hey Travis, what brings you to town?” David set his briefcase down, he was an accountant.
“Meaghan didn't tell you? I’m here for vacation, I’ll be staying with you guys for two weeks,” Travis turned and looked towards the kitchen where obnoxious whistling was coming from.
David set Alexander down and walked into the kitchen. He wrapped his arms around Meaghan’s middle as she cooked. “Why didn't you tell me he was coming?” David asked.
“I wanted it to be a surprise, I know you two like hanging out and having a guy’s night,” She shrugged.
Travis hung his six foot scarf on the hooks by the door before reaching out to take Alexander’s hand, “C’mon buddy, Mommy and Daddy need some adult time.” Alexander took Travis’s hand and they walked back to Alexander’s room. A soft “ewwie” came from Alexander’s lips as they walked through his bedroom door.

Dinner was ready at six o’clock. Everyone sat at the table, David at the head, Alexander to his right and Meaghan to his left. “Sit by me Uncle Travis!” Alexander squealed, and Travis did.
Three Ingredient Chicken is what they had. Chicken breast seasoned in brown sugar and dried Italian dressing. It was delicious, Meaghan had outdone herself. The chicken was accompanied by asparagus, and brown rice.
“This is amazing Meaghan, who knew you could cook,” Travis said after he finished his last bit of asparagus. David and Alexander laughed, Meaghan glared at her little brother, but soon joined in with the roaring laughter.
David shooed Travis away from helping clean up, since he was their guest. He took Alexander to the living room. “So, when are you starting school?” Travis asked already knowing the answer.
Alexander let out a loud child giggle, “Uncle Travis! I started last month!” Travis began to tickle Alexander just because his laughter was adorable and contagious.
“I know, I was just kidding with you buddy,” Travis laughed too.
Meaghan walked into the living room and stood in the doorway, “Alright, time for bed,” since Alexander was only five, seven thirty for a bedtime was reasonable.
“But mom,” Travis whined, he snorted and stood up with Alexander in his arms.
“I wanna spend time with Uncle Travis!” Alexander pouted, Travis patted his nephew on the back.
“I’ll be here in the morning Alexander, I promise.” Travis smiled at his nephew, who stopped pouting and nodded a little bit.
“Okay,” Travis kissed Alexander’s forehead and set him down on the floor.
“Night buddy,” Travis said as Meaghan lead him to his bedroom, where she tucked him in and kissed his forehead along with David.

After Alexander was asleep, Meaghan, David, and Travis settled in the living room and started catching up. “So how’s Sacramento?” Meaghan asked with a smile.
“Oh, it’s fine, a little lonely since I don’t have any roommates, and you guys are the closest family. But my job keeps me busy,” Travis leaned back in the chair he was sitting in getting more comfortable.
“Glad to hear you’re doing well with your job,” Meaghan said before she took a sip of tea. David took a swig of beer and put his feet up on the coffee table.
“So Travis, there’s this Irish bar that’s really awesome, do you want to go check it out tomorrow?” David asked and then let out a small burp, “’scuse me,” he said.
“Sure, that’d be great!” Travis looked to Meaghan, she shook her head which said that she wasn’t going to go with them.
“Tomorrow’s Friday right? Then it opens at 11:30 AM, it has live Irish music, amazing beer. Maybe we’ll hook you up with one of the hot waitresses,” David took another chug of beer, Meaghan elbowed her husband hard in the ribs and he coughed spilling a little beer on his shirt. Travis laughed.
David leaned over and kissed Meaghan on the cheek and she blushed, “Hey mister! That’s my sister!” Travis shouted softly and jokingly.
“Oops,” David chuckled and kissed his wife on the lips.
They all began to laugh softly not wanting to wake up Alexander. Travis looked at the wall clock that read eleven. “Well, I think it’s time I went to sleep. I have a long day of walking to do tomorrow,” Travis said as he got up from the chair.
“Oh don’t be such a wimp, it’s only eleven, you can totally stay up longer, be a man,” David said. Travis flipped him the bird with a brotherly type smile, both men laughed,. Meaghan rolled her eyes, she’d never understand guys and how they joked with one another.
Travis headed to the guest room after a final “G’night” to his sister and brother-in-law. The room was beige with hardwood floor. The bedspread was a dark evergreen, which made Travis smile, the color reminded him of home.
Travis turned down the right side of the bed and began to undress. He slept naked because he just felt the most comfortable. Travis climbed into the bed, turned on the television that was on the wall in front of the bed. He turned the television to HBO and True Blood was on. He held the volume button down and rolled to his side. Travis just liked the idea of having some light in the room on without it being a nightlight. He drifted off to a sound sleep.
