R12: Team #13 ~ Baker's Dozen

That's a great idea! I think I'm gonna do that too!

Wow! To go from not really knowing what this book was about to just jumping in it completely blew me away. It isn't so much about Lilac and Tarver's discovery of a new planet. It's more about their survival story and the things they uncover about this new world and the world they knew before the crash. Their love story is delicate, and touching. Beautiful in the simplistic and pure way it was created. These characters weren't forced together to create a love story, it was created because these characters love each other. It's been a long time since a book has touched me deeply and I will say I did cry. I can't wait to see what they've come up with for the next books.

Good Job!! :D

I asked on the discussion thread, and this is not a winning shelf for anyone. So we will have at least one more after this. Unfortunately, it did not give us an 8 in a row either.

Review:
I've heard a lot of really great things about this series, and I've read quite a few books in the New Adult genre. However, this was not one of the best I've read, but it wasn't bad either. I would have rated it lower if I didn't appreciate the character development. I do think Shaw changed more than I felt necessary at the end of the book. I feel like it was only added to just show how perfect they were together and how well things were going, but I don't think that needed to be done to get the point across. Rule isn't unlike many other heroes in New Adult Romance, but he has a great appeal. I, myself, love tattoos so it wasn't a stretch on my part to be attracted to him. I liked Shaw and I liked all of the other characters. But reading this after reading such a stellar five star book, it didn't quite live up to the shine.

Hunter is the Leader of the MoonBound Clan and he has agreed to an arranged mating to a rival clan to gain peace for his people and allies for an oncoming war with the humans. Rasha is his nightmare of an arranged mating from the ShadowSpawn Clan. Rasha finds herself in a spot of trouble while she is being on her journey to meet Hunter with her twin sister Aylin. Twins Shenanigans ensue!
Hunter finds himself (multiple times) deciding to follow his heart, head or pants. There is mistaken identity, returning characters, interesting(and fabricated) indian lore and adventure.
I really liked it. I seem to love all of Larissa Ione's books. She has added a fun and twisted spin on old dusty vampire stories that we know and still love.

I was checking on our status and noticed that somehow my Coupledom Review and Alpha book pick were missing. How does that happen? Whenever I use the Goodreads App I have trouble. so I reposted my review and here is the book for this weeks shelf that I am struggling to finish:
Mate Set by Laurann Dohner

I felt the same way about shaw. I feel like she changed her appearance as a reaction not because it was her thing. I don't know that I like that message.
That made me sound like an old lady.

I loved the first book in the series and this one was even better!
Harper Hall finally has everything she ever wanted. Thriving paranormal PI business? Check. At least some control over her psychic ability? Check. Smokin’ hot ex-slayer fiancé? Check.
But Harper’s plans to grab the first ordained Elvis impersonator she can find and marry Noah Riddick on the Vegas strip—sans drama—are shot to hell when her old business partner shows up and makes her an offer she can’t refuse. And if she tries? Well, let’s just say she might not live long enough to regret it.
I loved every page of this book - Harper is smart-mouthed and kick-ass, with beauty, brains and a heart of gold. And Noah is gorgeous, lethal and so romantic. It was laugh-out-loud funny, with heart-warming romance, edge-of-your-seat action and absolute delight to read.

Our heroine Mika is a human who finds herself in a dark ally surrounded by random and randy werewolves during mating season. They are just about to have their way with her and she is rescued by Grady. Grady is a werewolf that belongs to the same pack as Mika's uncle. He saves her from the rapists and then says she owes him and he in turn has his way with her (just not as forcefully?). Ick.
I just didn't like the path this book started on and it didn't turn around for me. It starts with more sex then story. It turns into a bit of a romantic struggle of two people not suited for each other fighting against all odds - but I already didn't like the two main characters. Now, the relationship between Mika's uncle and his girlfriend was interesting. Maybe I wasn't in the mood..you know what I mean?

Start a new to you series by an author you have read before.
I might not pick this until I finish my alpha book.

A very funny, enlightening read into the male mind. Drew is a womaniser, successful businessman and everything comes easy to him, until he meets Kate. Told from Drew's perspective, it was hilarious to read his thought process and his views on women and love. Kate is driven and smart with mind of her own and is as determined and resourceful as Drew. Absolutely loved Kate, though I was torn between hating Drew and feeling sorry for him. An enjoyable, humorous read.

It's really the cover that drew me in. Isn't that usually how it happens? lol

I loved this book. The concept of jumping between parallel universes was intriguing and original - I loved learning about the different worlds and seeing the differences between the characters in each world. I became caught up in the story and read late into the night to finish it. I did figure out a few of the plot twists early on, but there were others that I did not see coming. Plenty of action, surprise turns, mystery and romance. I'm definitely going to dive into the next book

Books with a save the marriage plot line are not usually my preference. But I really enjoyed this one. It did drag a bit in places, particularly, the "will she ever forgive me and end the separation" stuff from Mac parts. The painter hero was a new twist, for me anyway.

Hmm. I think that I would have liked this book a bit more if it had a tiny bit less sex in it (who just said that? It couldn't have been me).
I liked the twist on the vampire gifts and the idea that a woman was placed in what many consider a man's job. It was enjoyable but I think the author sold herself short on the strength of the story line.
Sam is a vampire with a special and rare gift. she is recruited to try-out to be a soldier for the Ruling Vampire of her territory. Sam finds herself with an unbelievable offer and an opportunity to be released from her Sire. She will be working with a vampire that stirs up a lot of love/hate feelings. Vampire craziness ensues.
It was a fun read. I will add the rest of the series to my TBR pile but not in a hurry.
