There is nothing bad that I could say about this book or this series. Chicagoland Vampires has become one of my favorite series - it would be hard to put anything ahead of it unless it would be the Mercy Thompson or Kate Daniels series. I love Merit. She is strong, witty, passionate. She loves her Grandfather & tolerates her father & mother & the rest of the Merit clan. I was glad to see some of the old Ethan come out in this book.
Cant wait to see what happens next - talk about leaving you wanting more

Y'all, I will update everything tonight when I get home from work. I finished my strong heroine book so I'll post that review too.
And my Bloody Mess book is going to be

Cancun!
My first passport stamp in my whole life. It's not far lol but I'm excited.

I absolutely adore this series. Im never really sure what to expect when I start one but they havent disappointed as of yet. This is the story of Nicholas & Jo & wow what a story. I love Nicholas he was very determined to stay one step ahead of the rogues & his family. Jo was just as determined. I loved the story & the mystery. Cant wait to see what adventure the next book in the series has in store.

I decided to continue with this series despite (view spoiler) the previous book. I saw several people say to stick with it and trust the author, so I did and I don't regret it. Honestly I barely notice that Ethan wasn't there. I was fairly surprised by who the antagonist was in this book. I'm curious to see where the series goes from here. Merit is one of my favorite female urban fantasy characters, possibly only behind Mercy Thompson.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Wow! This was such a fabulous book, so vivid, so colorful, so well told. It definitely had the potential to go all kinds of ways bad, but it didn't. The love story was so very real, so very passionate, and unfortunately has the potential to become so very tragic. Two people who are never supposed to be together find one another , Tragedy pull them apart, circumstance brings them back together, and tragedy once again is going to pull them apart. Where will this go?

(view spoiler)
I started this Book thinking I was going to get a continuation of the love story in the first book, but what I got instead was very DARK! Not going to lie at first I was a bit disappointed, but then I loved it, it was so real, so raw, so well told. What I got instead was definitely reality, yes I wanted butterflies, but I got Moths , And it worked. And in the end I got hope, and I'm definitely hoping there is a little more romance in the next book. I also need to definitely thank Zuzana and Miz for bringing light into this book when it most needed it, love this couple!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

So good! Love Carrow. She's kick-ass but also kinda normal compared to some of IAD's more warrior-like heroines. Which makes me like her a lot. And Malcom is just perfect for her and she is so perfect for him and his "broken-ness". Even Ruby is adorable (always risky to have young children as an integral character). I'm hoping to see more of her, she seems like an interesting little character.
Minus 1/2 star because it's too short almost! LOL. Also, as per usual when series start getting longer, I start to lose track of overall storylines/timelines and characters.

I really enjoyed this read by Kendra Leigh Castle. At first it took a little while for me to get back in sync with this story and characters because I started this series when it was brand new but then fell off. I did remember Damien who was one of the villains in the first book was getting his chance at looooooooove.
The Good:
One of y favorite plot ploys is the former villain/residential bad guy who has a turn of heart and reluctantly falls in love. Damien definitely delivered on that front! He was fighting tooth and nail against falling for Ariane. I loved how he would be verbally or physically sparring with and all the while he's in his own head waxing poetic about her eyes or hair or strength and then mentally slaps himself and is like don't like her don't like her! But it was inevitable because Ariane was awesome and she one of those lesser appreciated types of heroine. The kind that has a quiet strength. She can kick your ass six ways to Sunday but she doesn't lead with it, she is understated but don't make her angry!!
The bad and ugly:
I don't really have anything bad to say.
I think we could have spent a little more time with the whole (view spoiler) thing. It was addressed at the end but who that throws a monkey wrench into the world that was created. So far we've only had vamps and weres. Not a lot of time was spend here and I'm curious to see if it gets addressed in the next book. A note to the publisher: I slowed down on purchasing this series because of how freaking expensive the books were. Let's be realistic people!["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>

Review:
2.5 really descriptive burst of liquid gas or whatever the hell stars are.
There is one word that sums up this entire book...actually three: Descriptive. As. F@&$.
The good:
The murder mystery was very well done. It was like reading an episode of CSI set in steampunk Victorian England. My feminist war cry came out a few times too when Eliza was faced with a lot of sexism and plain chauvinism. She and Lizzie definitely held their own. Especially Lizzie. I really liked her. The story, which I thought had too many pages, progressed okay but I think the progression would have been excellent base on my Bad and Ugly points.
The bad:
There were so many words, so many descriptions, literally pages and pages of just setting a scene. It was exhausting and interesting wrapped I one. Viola Carr paints a vivid world but good lord she takes 30 words for what could take 5. This book could have possibly been about 100 pages shorter if our dear author didn't go off on descriptive tirades at least 6 times per chapter.
The ugly:
This book had moments where I felt like a complete idiot. I don't think I've used the dictionary function so much as when I was reading this book in the four years I've been reading electronically. Like literally thank god I was reading I kindle. Those wordy descriptions were full of SAT words I was ready for. Sometimes I feel like the thesaurus should have a co-author for this read because it was rough going there for a little while.
I won't be continuing this series. While it was a decent read, there is nothing compelling me to continue learning about this world and it's characters.

How it fits: published in 2015 DEFINITELY!
"There is more to a book then just it's ending," but I have to say the ending of this book touched me more than a book has in quite a while. What would you do on the last day of your life? This book really made me think about that, I think I would spend time with family, friends, and eat everything I wanted to! Emerson and Vince, spent the last day granting other peoples wishes. It made you realize it's the simple things in life that really matter music, books, playing , Food, friends, family, and of course love. The material things did not matter money was not needed, cars were stolen and it didn't seem all that important, all that was important as that you were alive and that you are loved. I could probably go on and on about this book, you just need to read it! There is a lot packed into this little book, it is definitely a worthwhile read.

I love this little trilogy. So good and pretty unique, among the books I read anyway. Downsides: I would have appreciated more in depth story-telling. There was so much happening and packed into this book that I felt it suffered a lack of detail. Part of this is probably due to being in first person.
Glad that the series ended on a happy note. I was worried for a while that there was no way to resolve it happily. Would have liked an epilogue more in the future, mostly because I want to see how Paige is getting along and if Raffe's sword ever accepts him again.
Overall, great series. Good end to the series. I'll be reading them again more likely.

Magic Shifts
Another amazing installment in this series! I have to say that reading the Kate Daniels series has been one of the highlights of reading uf and pnr. This book literally had me running the gamut of emotions. Happy, sad, comical, angry, hopeful, determined, vengeful, vindictive and vindicated. Such a wonderful emotional roller coaster. Illona and Gordon Andrews are really in their prime with this series. I can't get enough of it. I love Kate, Curran and the whole gang more and more with each book. It was hilarious picturing them living in the suburbs and trying I be normal... Yeah right! They can't stay out of trouble. I also really like that Ilona and Gordon use different mythology in each book, this one featured Arabian/Islamic mythos and it was so interesting to be presented with something different than Eurocentric mythos. Another clear 5 star performance. I'm going to bawling if/when this series ends!
