My pleasure, hopefully you like it!
I didn't read Boneshaker this time around as I had already finished it earlier this year,so I instead read Paladin of Souls. I am just finishing up The Eternal Champion and then have the following in my book queue:1) The Great Book of Amber
2) Chronicles of the Black Company
3) The Hallowed Hunt
4-6) The Blade Itself, Before They Are Hanged and Last Argument of Kings
7-9) Mistborn: The Final Empire, The Well of Ascension and The Hero of Ages
I also need to finish Guns, Germs, and Steel: The Fates of Human Societies and Playing at the World: A History of Simulating Wars, People, and Fantastic Adventure from Chess to Role-Playing Games sometime.
My library queue got a little out of hand...
Finished Boneshaker - it was ok. Finished Steelheart- it was really fun. Tried to get Dresden 5 and the new Locke Lamora book but the library didn't have either in, so I picked up this In the Night Garden. So far it's really neat. It's very old world fairy tale in the way it's written, very much how Bridge of Birds had that oriental folk lore feel. So far I'm really enjoying it.

Finishing off Peter F Hamilton's Void Trilogy with The Evolutionary Void
Tyler wrote: "How is that void trilogy?"I'm enjoying it but not as much as Commonwealth Saga. I'm hoping for a whiz bang finish.

I just finished Technomancer, by B. V. Larson, which was pretty good. Now I am debating between Leviathan Wakes, which I hear is great, and Broken.

Just read Broad Horizons by Matt Chessen and I'm currently working on the Gone Away World by Nick Harkaway

Finished Bernard Cornwell's latest entry to his Saxon Tales The Pagan Lord on AudibleMy review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Starting on Audible Turn Coat The Dresden Files 11

Nice review, David.
The Pagan Lord just jumped up in my to-read stack.
I'm reading a couple of books now, but for fantasy/science fiction I am reading Mort which is book 4 in the Discworld series. I am loving Terry Pratchett, kind of reminds me of the Xanth series in some ways.

I finished The Republic of Thieves, and it enjoyed it for the most part (My Review).
Now I'm trying to catch up on Reaper's Gale for my Malazan group.

I just started Boneshaker - so far so good! I just finished The Stars Were Right - a gritty urban fantasy that's "The Fugitive meets Lovecraft". :) Very fun with lots of action.

I read Limits of Power by Elizabeth Moon. It's good, but still doesn't catch the spark that the Deed of Paksennarion generated. Book 4 (of 5?)Reading The Human Division by John Scalzi, which is very enjoyable. Snarky alien soldiers for the win.
Won't have time for much more than Boneshaker this month. I read the new Warren Ellis Avengers graphic novel and I'm spending a little time on the 2nd Dragonriders of Pern novel

I just finished Blue Remembered Earth, which was a bit of a slog. Looking for something more entertaining for my next one.

Reading The Red Fairy Book by Andrew Lang Mixed, as most collections are, some stories are better than others. It is good enough so I may go on and read the other colors.
Does anyone know if the colors have any meaning?

I have Boneshaker on my nightstand, but have been overtaken by other books and may have to renew it!I am reading:
Barrayar - Just finished on audio.
The Warrior's Apprentice - Just started listening.
Just finished a reread of The Lies of Locke Lamora
Just about to finish reading (later today:
Happy Hour in Hell. (Had put a hold on it and have to finish before its due this friday).
The question is - jump into Bonehshaker or move onto to reread Red Seas Under Red Skies since I have a hold on The Republic of Thieves which will probably be on its way to me soon and I'll only be able to keep out for two weeks.
I also have The Walking Dead, Vol. 18: What Comes After waiting for me at the library for pickup!
Finished Turn Coat The Dresden Files 11 on AudibleMy review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Starting next week on Audible as a group read Promise of Blood
Listened to Who Knows by Guy de Maupassant on the SFF Audio podcastMy review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
Flew through Protector by C.J. Cherryh, and thoroughly enjoyed it. About to reread Heinlein's Starship Troopers, the next on the list of Hugo winning novels. (I started with The Demolished Man late last year.)

Finished Memories of Ice yesterday. Really enjoyed it. Now I'm gonna give Boneshaker another try before tackling House of Chains.

Mostly horror for this month, just finishedDoctor Sleep
and am about 1/3 of the way throughGhost Story

Listened to HP Lovecraft's The Dreams in the Witch House on the SFF audio podcastMy review https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

I finished listening Heir of Novron and I LOVED it (My Review).
It's not going to appeal to everyone, but I jumped right into the first prequel The Crown Tower.
I highly recommend the audiobooks too. The only downside is I had to find reasons to keep listening when I would normally have stopped listening for the day.

For those of you reading Doctor Sleep, is it worth checking out? I've heard mixed things about it.I am currently listening to Kraken and reading The King in Yellow and Other Horror Stories. Lots of fun, otherworldly things going on!

It really depends on what you're looking for. If you want a scary horror story no.
If you want a fantastical thriller and more of the shining then maybe.

Nice review Rob. I agree that DS wasn't all that scary, it was more of a redemption story with supernatural/horror elements. I did think it was one of King's better recent efforts and that's why I bumped it up to 4 stars. So Jeremiah, like Rob says, it depends on what you're looking for. If you are looking for a return to King's early horror days, don't expect to find it with this book.
Kind of finished Boneshaker. I didn't like it so I sped read it and skimmed the last half. Back to Malazan with House of Chains. Woo!

A question to anyone who's read it, does Wizard's First Rule by Goodkind work well as a standalone story?I'm currently reading The Tyrant's Law by Daniel Abraham

Thanks. I enjoyed it, but not as much as Joyland

Finished The Republic of Thieves... for the most part. Some Interludes I have to finish that I skipped.Almost finished with The Dragon Keeper. Kind of parody to the dragon rider plot.
I just finished The Shadow of the Wind, and it was fantastic! The storytelling was so rich and the plot was full of fun and surprising twists.

I really love that book.

  I really love that book.
I'm reading A Song for Arbonne.. I had that book at home for years, and finaly started reading it after my friedns scolded me for never reading anything by G. G. Kay. Shame on me.

Dustin wrote: "...Almost finished with The Dragon Keeper. Kind of parody to the dragon rider plot."What did you think of it? I love R. Hobb's books, but I never got into that 'real dragons' plot.. So I don't know if I should give it a chance..?
Geoff, from what I remember the main story seems to be all wrapped up neatly and then in the last chapter he throws in a bunch of stuff to hook you for the next book.I enjoyed the first few books, but I think they go pretty downhill as the series progresses.
I've started listening to The Girl Who Soared Over Fairyland and Cut the Moon in Two by Catherynne M. Valente, read by Catherynne M. Valente. She has a great voice for reading, and she was already one of my favorite authors/people, so I'm pretty happy.

Michele wrote: "Geoff, from what I remember the main story seems to be all wrapped up neatly and then in the last chapter he throws in a bunch of stuff to hook you for the next book."Alright, thanks. I picked up a used copy for a dollar and I was wondering about it.
Finished The Voyage to Ruin. Almost finished Deadlocked 5. Then I'll either try finishing The Living Dead or read Dracula.

I finished Palimpsest by Catherynne Valente (which references the first Girl in Fairyland story, see above). She has beautiful imagery, and it might improve on rereading, but I have trouble caring about her characters. Also I finished The Human Division which was fun, but somewhat lacking in closure (ie there better be another book coming).I started Night Film, since I liked her Strange Topics in Calamity Physics so much. It may or may not be sff.
Geoff, I agree with Michele, the first book is good and complete but then stop. The books afterwards are more series-ish.
