So mean that they give the family such a hefty fine. They could at least have hired the kid and made their Internet security stronger.
Ok so yeah, that was pretty kooky. I can't believe it was only made in 1995. I was thinking 80s... But it wasn't too bad. I can accept the dated technology, the representation of code, the pixelated images, etc. I like the hacking tricks they do, and the celebration of subcultures. What I don't like:
- the villain. I can't take him seriously. The actor they chose has a face that's better suited to comedy, in my opinion, and I just thought he was silly. His mistress was worse, she just seemed to stand around complaining that she didn't know what was going on, in her whiny little voice.
- it pales in comparison to the books I've read about hackers and computer geeks. William Gibson and Neal Stephenson make it look so much cooler.
- Jonny Lee Miller with an American accent. Awful.
So it was ok, but I wouldn't watch it again.
I like the soundtrack as well and I agree with you about the fine - poor parents!
- Lol yea I also can't take him seriously. Bad casting.
- I will have to read them sometimes.
- Lolol what about his hair!
There is something about the movie, the whole sticking it to the man, that I like :)

His hair wasn't so bad. Angelina Jolie's was a bit harder for me to get used to. I really hated those sunglasses he was wearing in the first hacking scene though.I liked the 'stick it' aspect too, especially when all the hackers got together. Although hackers aren't really heroes; they're the assholes who fuck with your facebook account and steal your money online.
By the way, have you ever seen the movie Stick It? It's also about sticking it to the man, but it's about gymnastics with a great main character.
