Janice (jamasc) | 60012 comments Just for fun... has your rating changed from the first time you read the book? Or did you prefer the book the first time you read it?

Lately, I've re-read a few books. I seem to be on a trend of rating them higher the second time around. The book I read for this challenge, Heart-Shaped Box rose at least a half star. The first time, I rated it 3-1/2 stars and thought it dragged in the middle. This time, I rated it 4 stars and even debated rating it 5 stars. I didn't find it dragged at all.

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Except for some books I read as a child/young adult, for the most part I've enjoyed rereads more than I had originally. They are especially better when I get to discuss them here on GoodReads. That happened with Dark Places which was enhanced it my mind considerably by the discussions my group had about it.

Lisa (lisathebooklover) | 9244 comments I rated my book, The Phantom Of The Opera, higher the second time around. I gave it 4 stars initially because I enjoyed it but there were occasions when I felt it was a bit slow and I found my attention wandering. It took me a while to finish it too for a reasonably short book. However, when I reread it for this month's challenge I had no such problems. I flew through it and my attention never wandered once. A definite 5 star read for me this time :)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Yes, the rating for my re-read of Jane Eyre went up. However, since I did not really remember the story - only having recognized the title and that I had read it in high school, when I first added it to my GR "read" list, I only gave it two stars. It was a five for me this time. Maybe it should only be a four, because I still did not like some parts of the book, but the parts of the book I LOVED, really made it a five star read for me.
