For the movies: The Hunger Games definitely winsFor the books itself: Divergent wins.
Sorry, but I did NOT get Mockingjay. It was downright confusing.
I love Hunger Games and Divergent, but Divergent wins for me!Book one for Divergent was perfect in my opinion, Insurgent was almost perfect for me. (I had to read it twice because it was a little confusing for me.) Allegiant had potential, but it was just flat out boring. (And that ending...sigh)
I give the Divergent movie 9/10
Hunger Games! First dystopian novel I ever read. I Loved the first book. Easy to follow and it made me keep on reading. What I didn't like was the characters. I hated Katniss in more ways than Tris. AND I HATED THE LOVE TRIANGLE! PICK ONE AND STICK WITH HIM PLEASE! Catching Fire was alright and Mockingjay was too complicated. Not too bad of an ending though.
(I find it ironic that one of the worst dystopia worlds gets a happy ending)
Hunger games movie! 7/10 (WHO HIRED THE CAMERAMAN?)
Catching Fire: 9/10 Still faithful to the novel and overall pretty stunning.
Overall: Divergent has better characters and plot and a better sequel than Catching Fire. Also a better first movie.
Hunger Games: good premise but needs better sequels
(The first book was the best one for both cases.)

I completely agree with you.
I was so excited when i started reading Divergent.
But everything got started getting bad in insurgent and it got downright awful in Allegiant.
I felt the same way as you guys do. Divergent was good but the rest of the books were so terrible I can't believe I actually finished the series.

I really hate how everyone think the Hunger Games and Divergent are the same thing. Each one is about something different yes they have the some of things are the same but not all of it. The really nice thing about Divergent it is not a Love Triangle.

Sorry, guys and girls. I'm a Hunger Games fan. I read both series and, upon further reflection, I choose a complex society with flawed characters and the overthrowing of a corrupt and cruel government over gawdy teen romance (they're a bad couple, seriously). No offense to the Divergent fans. I actually like the series. But it was kind of all over the place.
Hunger Games was, at the very least, precise.
My vote goes pretty decidedly to Divergent. I'm also among the seemingly rare fans who loved all three books in both series.

I have just finished rereading the Hunger Games series... today. And after another reading I still like Divergent way way way better. The writing in Divergent is just so much better. The writing in Hunger Games makes me cringe.

Hunger Games forever *-* The first book of Divergent is actually great , the second not to bad like the third one (except this ending : not the ending properly but the way Tris acted made me to kill her --' but don't open an old wound) . THG KILL EVERYTHING *-* There are also drawbacks like the ending really not developped :/ and the first book is a bit boring sometimes but GOSH I LOVE THIS SERIE *-* I like much better the THG characters and world than the Divergent ones. I have to admit that Veronica Roth writes a bit better at some point than Suzanne Collins but I really prefer the Hunger Games *-* Besides I saw the Insurgent trailer :i'm pretty confused and I hope they won't destroy the serie seriously !

I loved the way the Divergent trilogy ended, but I have to go with The Hunger Games as clearly superior. With the disparity in writing experience between Suzanne Collins and Veronica Roth, I can't say it's surprising that Suzanne Collins would have created a better magnum opus, but Veronica Roth acquitted herself masterfully too, in my opinion.

Both series were good. I'm glad I'm not the only one who likes Divergent better. I will say in Allegiant I always forgot whose POV I was reading because they were so similar and that was annoying. Both series romances were annoying and both series were depressing but I thought the Divergent was less depressing, Tris was less annoying, and it had a better ending.

The first book in divergent was perfect. I loved it so much. The second book was just bad in my opinion. I couldn't keep track of the characters. They went back and forth, Tris and four didn't work together,...
It annoyed me so much.
Allegiant was okay but fourtris annoyed me again. The switching pov was also very frustrating because sometimes I didn't even know who's pov it was
The ending of allegiant was so unnecessary.
While I enjoyed every page of thg trilogy.
