Dean White Harris obviously believes that Hannibal Lecter is actually a latent "good guy," and the powers that be, represented by the Fascist FBI, are the real evil. It seems to me that the one scenario you left out is that Starling and Graham, aided by Lecter, turn on their former masters and kick their asses.

Over-the-top? Yes. But each Lecter book has turned him into more and more a sort of a superhero (drifting away from the nuts and bolts procedural that was Red Dragon), who is a corrector for institutionalized political corruption.

I believe a writer of Harris' talent could make this kind of plot believable, and isn't that what most fiction is, allowing the author to cause in us, the readers, a sublime suspension of disbelief?

Lily Wolf I doubt that there would be another book. Could there be? Yes. But I think the possible storylines are being adapted for film/television, and with only lukewarm receptions for "Hannibal Rising," I don't see there being much of a literary need for a new installment.

Thomas Back about in 2008, I was driving a taxi in San Antonio, Texas. I got a call to one of the downtown hotels, and I picked up Sir Anthony Hopkins. Yes, SIR Anthony. He was knighted. First, he said he would not do another Hannibal movie. Secondly, he likened the last movie like Hitchcock's The Birds wherein you don't know what happens. The movie just abruptly stops leaving what happens next solely in your imagination. Sir Anthony is a very nice man. It was such an honor to drive him to the Main Library where he was doing some charity work. I will never forget that day and consider myself extremely lucky.
