October Writing Contest

Hi guys! We all know Halloween, the candy filled and spooky themed celebration, is this month. So, in lieu of this we have concocted a challenge that only the brave can tackle…

Guess what?! You’ve just received the letter all writers dream of; the publishing house wants to publish your new book! However, they need to pitch your book to their boss and they want you to choose a single scene. This excerpt must convince the publisher that your book is going to be a bestseller to come out right at Halloween. This scene can be no more than a 1,000 words and it must grip your reader, chilling them to the bone.

(Please note, the above scenario is just for the purpose of this challenge and is not based off the actual process of getting your writing published.)

-Entries must be spooky/suspenseful/Halloween themed
-Entries can be no more than 1,000 words, there is no minimum
-Profanity and obscene language is NOT allowed (you can however do symbols in moderation, such as: *%$@)
-Romantic content must be minimal
-Keep content PG-13 or less!
-All entries MUST be in English
-Only ONE entry per person
-All entries MUST be submitted by MIDNIGHT OCTOBER 25 2013

Failure to follow ALL above rules will result in IMMEDIATE disqualification, this decision from the Mods will be final and is not up for discussion.

One winner will be chosen and their entry will be published in the November newsletter.
