Vampire's can mark their victims if they are unable to make the kill. When marked each mark is noted for it's unique qualities. The mark appears as a tattoo the size of a quarter. A person who has been marked is marked for a quality gene in their bodies granting vampires with certain powers. When a person becomes marked they have one of three choices. 1) Be turned 2) Die 3) Kill vampires for their red matter liquid souls to stay alive.
Vampires are extreme psi creatures. When killed after bursting into flames and becoming explosive ash they leave behind a glowing red orb. Marked beings and Slayers can take vials and hold it to the orb as it dissolves into a liquid during which the process can be dangerous without sunglasses as it causes a bright light and sonic wave bursting outward can shatter windows, turn car alarms on, and always shocks the lights out. A person marked must survive by drinking the red matter of vampire souls. One must drink continuously every few hours or they may very well die. Over-exertion can cause the vampire soul to be wasted meaning the more energy and adrenaline used the closer to death one becomes. Without this single antidote constantly being taken daily and hourly one will first experience a vast number of pains as the mark becomes a poison flowing into the body tightening the muscles and causing the greatest of damage in the most painful of forms.
The only way to get rid of a mark if the person marked kills the vampire who marked them. This is a hard task that only Slayers are known to achieve. If the vampire has marked multiple targets one best hope they reach the vampire first. If the vampire has been killed by one of it's marked victims then the others are left to suffer the mark.
The mark calls to other vampires like the scent of blood. The older the mark is on a being the stronger the scent. The fresher the mark is the weaker the scent, but that wills till draw in vampires.
Every human is capable of being marked given their soul has a genetic mutation and each one being unique to the person it remains dormant until active by a mark. Humans do not possess these powers, but once a vampire can drink your blood they will.
