Jake Stanzer The book I think is worth the read. It not the best book ever, but the topic of race is very relevant and very complex. It is important to get an of the issues of issues from many different perspectives. After all, one's view of the world is reality...for them at least. What is real anyway? The world is made up of billions of realities and its important to have insight from all of them.

I think Biss's reality is a little misguided. I don't think she has a great understanding of racial issues. I think she likes to think she is different from other "white" liberal middle class Americans, but she is not.

It may actually be critical to embrace one's history and cultural heritage instead of trying to disassociate with people of the same heritage. Once one can accept where they came from and what makes them, they can learn to respect the differences of other cultures.
