I thought the book was interesting though out. This book to me opens my eyes of what the real world is like (racism). The first chapter, we see poor treatment of the African American race, which includes beating and lynchings (pg 7). It seems like the girl in the book is ashamed of her race. I think this is a true for how Americans are viewed across the world now, We seem to represent ourselves poorly. I feel this book is important because it opens your eyes to the world around you.
