I haven't checked and I don't think I ever will -- I suspect I might be on their list, but I couldn't care less. What I do care about is that GR was dumb enough to be bullied by them into adopting and implementing a set of rules that basically wrought havoc with the community here. (Same as Amazon did a few years ago, why am I not surprised?) But I'm going to move forward and not stand still wasting even a second worrying about a crappy group of whiners like that.

Dawid's reaction IS just absolutely awesome, though ... and gives me plenty of reasons to hope that we're not going to see the same debacle on BookLikes that we're currently seeing here. Go Dawid!

+1

Dawid relies a lot on Amazon but is not owned by them. That makes the diffence. Otis transformed from someone who built up a truly great booksite for readers into a businessman who puts the authors first and manipulates our reviews into acceptable advertising copy because that what Amazon want. That's what the Kindle guy who is head of Goodreads wants.

Fingers crossed it's going to stay that way ... and Ammy never becomes the sort of corporate bully in Poland that it's become most everywhere else in the world. Data feeds from Amazon, or rather their being cut off, was (in hindsight) the beginning of the end on GR -- and BookLikes does use precisely those as well. Along with other sources for the time being, but the reliance on Amazon is clearly critical to the site. Let's just hope Dawid is going to find a better to deal with Amazon than Otis did!

Did you check your import list? If you have a book on the list with some weird Red, White and Green cover that says "Therapie" (like this) instead of proper cover or generic green cover, it's a placeholder for the edition they cannot recognise. (Usually books without ISBN.) They don't appear on the shelves. Click to the "change" button to the right to look for the edition they have in their database.

Thanks Helen, but so far I only got one cover named "Therapie" many others still missing. I am comparing each shelf I have here at GR with the shelves then created in BL. But there are also some reviews missing. It could be due to the traffic problems once we started to move over there. I just my guess, I might be wrong.

Does anybody know how to make a back-up file at BL?

Thanks for the help!!

Mickey BookLikes has a long way to go to equal GoodReader in my opinion.

http://MickeyRoss.booklikes.com/blog

So far I see no way to interact with others, no groups, hard to find book reviews from others and no book recommendations. I have other personal web sites and this is one more site to maintain.

However, BookLikes may improve over time and in the mean time I think I will keep a presence here. They have the groups and some groups have a lively discussion. There is always "usenet" newsgroups for wild and home of the free speech of the Internet that I find enjoyment on some issues.

But there are times when civility is disired like here on GR. When one lives under ones roof obey the rules or move and I have many homes on the net.

I take it you have never ventutured into the old world, the back streets of "Usenet Newsgroups"? Lots of fun there :)

Goodreads is extremely civil compared to the world of usenet.

I was referrring to your edict "obey the rules or move".

I see, the word "civility" in quotes threw me off :)
One could stay here and stir up the hornets nest, could be fun also :)

Trying out BookLikes, mostly because a number of the YA bookbloggers I like have migrated over. Not sure if I will leave GoodReads entirely, or just watch my words even more.

Life's a (rhymes with witch) right now, so it's going to take a while for me to find the time to settle in.

There's no notice sent when you unfollow someone. They'll only know if they are listing their followers.
