Rachmi | 4882 comments When you’ve been kept caged in the dark, it’s impossible to see the forest for the trees. It’s impossible to see anything, really. Not without bars . . .

Andrew Winston Winters is at war with himself.

He’s part Win, the lonely teenager exiled to a remote Vermont boarding school in the wake of a family tragedy. The guy who shuts all his classmates out, no matter the cost.

He’s part Drew, the angry young boy with violent impulses that control him. The boy who spent a fateful, long-ago summer with his brother and teenage cousins, only to endure a secret so monstrous it led three children to do the unthinkable.

Over the course of one night, while stuck at a party deep in the New England woods, Andrew battles both the pain of his past and the isolation of his present.

Before the sun rises, he’ll either surrender his sanity to the wild darkness inside his mind or make peace with the most elemental of truths—that choosing to live can mean so much more than not dying.

Karla and I want to read this book on October 6th, 2013. Feel free to join us!

Karla | 103 comments Yaaaayy :)

Rachmi | 4882 comments I just take a look, I think it's pretty short, at least shorter than I used to read in paranormal book.

Karla | 103 comments Idk how to say it without spoiling, but it's not really a paranormal book. Though it seems a lot like one for a huge chuck of it.

Rachmi | 4882 comments Oh, it isn't a paranormal book? what is it then? I think I misplace this thread :)

Karla | 103 comments It DOES have a lot of aspects of PNR, so I would probably keep it here under paranormal. But once you finish it turns more into a realistic fiction/mystery.

Rachmi | 4882 comments The reason why I thought it's a PNR is because in genre list (above Stephanie Kuehn's bio) said it's about werewolves. So, yeah...I thought it is a werewolves story :) and since it has high rating here, I'm curious and want to read it next month so that I can put it for my Octoberfest.

But if it turns out isn't about werewolves or whatnot, I still want to read it.

Karla | 103 comments Yeah yeah that's what I thought when I read it, but it turned out to be sooo much better than just a werewolf story :)

Rachmi | 4882 comments Now I can't wait to read it and see how awesome it is :D And this is a standalone, right? I rarely read standalone books these days and kind of miss it

Karla | 103 comments Yup standalone!

Rachmi | 4882 comments Hi Karla, it's October 6th in my country so I'm starting it now.

Rachmi | 4882 comments 10% Although the writing is quite simple, I kind of need more time to understand the MC. It's in a good way, though because I can instantly connect with Drew/Win. Feel sad for him, though I don't know yet why I feel sad. Such a weird feeling :)

Rachmi | 4882 comments 46% I'm wondering whether (view spoiler). Everything still unsure, I'm dying to know now :D

Rachmi | 4882 comments 80% I have to say this is quite weird story. I keep wondering what this story is all about. I understand what Drew/Win tells me but I keep thinking whether there is something else beyond what he talks about.

Rachmi | 4882 comments Finished it! I loved it, Karla. It's amazing, I can't even tell you anything else right now :D I just loved it!
