Ben Merrett-troup | 2 comments Hi

I always have trouble importing .mp3 audiobooks to my iphone.
Can anyone recommend an app that they know works?
I have seen media players that enable you to drag and drop from windows to iTunes.

The 2 main problems I have are:
1. The app remembering where I am upto in the playlist or .mp3
2. iTunes does not recognise the .mp3 I want to import. (Some are old)

Thanks in advance.
Ben.

Kristie | 2212 comments I use Android, but I have the Smart AudioBook Player app, which works well. You may want to see if they have an Apple version.

Kristie | 2212 comments Sorry, no drag and drop, but you can copy and paste files to the phone file.

Patricia (pjaye) | 447 comments I recently had to do a search for this, a friend ripped an audiobook from CDs for me and even though I had a bunch of mp3 files that showed up in the Audible app, they all played out of order.
Try following these instructions and see if it helps your problem:
http://mp3.about.com/od/itunes/qt/How...
It "joins" the files and then they play in order and it saves your position.
Basically I imported the files into the iTunes library and they ended up in the 'music' section, so I had to go and find them in there and then I followed the intructions on the page I linked. If you do it properly, it makes a book and it automatically moves it into the audiobooks section of the library.
Let me know if that's not clear and I'll try to explain it further.

I also started using an app called "Audiobook & Podcast Player" By Contity Consulting and I really like it.
This is the Au link, but I'm not sure if it will take you to the right page if you aren't Au...but it's a blue app with a book and speaker in the middle:
https://itunes.apple.com/AU/app/id356...

Oleg Biom | 1 comments Try to use "MP3 Audiobook player" ( https://itunes.apple.com/app/mp3-audi... )
Simpliest and useful interface, support MP3, M4B audiobooks, timerr, bookmark, remote control and other features.

Mercedes Jayne (himejii) | 5 comments You shouldn't need an app, they should play right on your phone. They do on my iPod anyway, but maybe the iPhone lacks functionality that the dedicated device manages with grace?

They key is to tell iTunes that they're audiobooks. Just go into the file info, options, and set the media type to audiobook. On the iPod, that creates a new icon "Audiobooks" that responds as expected.

Incidentally, I also use Smart AudioBook Player on my phone (Nexus 5) and it's fantastic. Except recently it's decided to start opening itself and playing books, without prompting or even headphones plugged in. Not sure what's up with that, so I uninstalled it until they catch on and fix the bug.
